If you guys want real sound with real bass in them, try V-MODA. Either Crossrade M-100 or the wireless version.

Beats is just childish audio quality.
Beats has the branding and name cache.

There is nothing stopping Apple from continuing the improve the sound quality of headphones until it is comparable to other headphone brands. Which would probably cost less than trying to market that V-moda brand until it has the same degree of brand recognition of Beats.

Respecting local market traditions is a way to attract more traditional customers in to the ecosystem.

Excluding Macbook Pro with touchbar... meh.
Touchbar is such a waste that not many likes it. People just use because it is there if given a choice people would choose a proper keyboard. Gimmicks like these will help in the future, proper innovation is the way to go. Irony is Apple thinks that touchbar is a great innovation so no discounts. 2015 MacBook Pro might be last sensible design for a MacBook pro from Apple. Hope Apple learns fast.

Why is the tbMBP excluded from the offer? Shouldn't the people dropping the most $$ be included in the offer?

It is excluded because Apple is already selling enough of them and they don't need/want to add an incentive. Think about it, if you are in the market for a Mac right now, what would you buy? You'd buy the tbMBP, right? Everything else is outdated, so it needs a little boost to get them flowing off the shelves.

Don't wanna come off as a troll, but they couldn't pay me to wear those ugly, generically designed headphones that look like a blown up kid's set. Would much rather be wearing my AirPods, but still got till February for them to ship!

I'm sure you will get them earlier than February. I got mine two weeks early.

you are right .... it cost to make less then $10 to make a Beats .. agreed ... there may be some better and more better headset in market agreed ...

but Beats is all about quality, style and simplycity connecting to different sources .. for example My beats 3 connected with 9 different device and I dont have to touch any setting to change it....

and mind you I am using Bluetooth head set since 2006 or 2007 when I bought first of its kind Bluetooth Head set for $500 plus .. it was like a magic ... you are getting sound from a headset connected to my ipod ....
and then I own many other headset ...including 2 Bose... QC headset....

for me I like the BEATS AND OWN BEATS 2 SOLO ( I Hate them as it hurts my ear.. lol ) beats 3 like it ... and use it more often.. and BEATS studio which i love the most ... when I watch my action Movies on apple TV .. without disturbing any one in house....

so you go and get what you like .. I like Beats ... and i paid just $219 for beats Studio at Target ... lol... I am a deal killer...

Step 1 - receive said Beats headphones

Step 2 - sell those atrocious headphones

Step 3 - purchase AirPods with that money

*Optional - purchase second pair with remaining money

Sounds like a plan...until the fine print....

Purchases at Hong Kong Apple Store Locations cannot be returned or exchanged. If the Eligible Mac or Eligible iPhone (each an “Eligible Product”) is returned for any reason without the promotional headphones, or is exchanged for a product that was not the original Eligible Product purchased, your refund will be reduced by the amount of the instant credit applied to your initial purchase. Any promotional headphones returned for a refund must be returned with the Eligible Product in order to receive a full refund.
Sheesh....

lol, I guess iPhone sales were so bad over the holidays that they resort to what Chinese flagship phone import's were doing. I mean companies like ZTE and others were offering free headphones or VR headsets to try and sell their phones, now Apple is using this ploy to try and make iPhone more appealing to the Chinese. Its pretty bad when Apple has to resort to bribing people to buy their phone these days. And to think that Steve Jobs once said Apple products do not need advertising now Tim Cook is having to throw in free products to help boost sales. I've also noticed the iPhone 7 has become heavily subsidized by the phone companies, flooding the market today with free iPhone 7 on multi year plans. Boy has times changed when only 3 month old model iPhone still would cost you $400+ on a 2 year term, it certainly was never free just 3 months after the model release date.

Sorry but if Tim Cook is not let go as CEO in 2017 this company is becoming just another mediocre tech company using mediocre tactics to get sales figures up. Don't innovate or anything, just offer the same products with cheap gimmicks and incentives. Cook is so far out of his depth this is another example of the desperation this company has under his so called leadership.

You're missing something. Beats has the branding name, but they are over priced, cheaply made products with "Catchy" colors, with average or just above sound quality. (Exclusing the Beats-X, which seems be more on The Premium side).

Anyone with a sense or knowledge without having to be an audiophile, can easily choose a stronger product that boasts a more mature exoerience with spending about the same amount of money.

Beats has the marketing corner over everyone else, including Bose. But branding doesn't equate to what a product delivers, the consumer is attracted to marketing hyped colors and likely is more orientated towards a younger generation.

Now that I think about it, Apple probably bought Beats as a condition for Dr Dre joining them. They wanted the music streaming service and the connections to the music industry and the headphones was really just incidental to the deal.

Sheesh....

So... don't return either product. Buy the product you were going to buy and, shock horror, keep it. And then sell the headphones like the "plan" actually says. No need to consider returns at all.

Apple has owned Beats for 2-1/2 years and they haven't improved the sound quality yet. Yes, Beats has the brand, but their quality, sound and manufacturing, is horrible. If you care about having a quality pair of cans, instead of trying to look lie LBJ, then you can spend the same amount of money and get the V-Moda's. I've got the Crossfade wired and wireless versions and the second you pick them up, you can tell that they are much better than the plastic, overpriced Beats.

So, your line of reasoning makes sense; Buy the V-Moda's and you're paying for quality, buy the Beats and you're paying for the name cache.
