Apple Announces Dates for WWDC 2009: June 8th-12th

It's not cut off in the ADC e-mails Apple sent, and on the website it's just darker. There's no front camera visible in either picture. But Apple wouldn't put the new iPhone on their website before WWDC regardless, that doesn't mean there isn't going to be a new one.
 
What to expect?

What can we expect from this WWDC? I assume we will be getting the third iteration of the iphone as well as an in depth look at snow leopard. Correct me if I'm wrong. I plan on selling my samsung epix and ipod to get one of these new iphone assuming they are 32gb. I think 32gb is the magic number for alot of potential buyers.

i know they definitely wouldnt do that. i feel like if apple was putting a front facing camera they would find a way to put it under the glass, anyway. but good call, hell i even completely missed the fact that the black bar cutting it off is transparent. durr. :eek:
 
The news is great but our rumor mill is still slim on the hardware side of things.
1. Pictures (Fake or Real) have not emerged.
2. Hardware specifics -A few of these but nothing really to let us know what is in store for the new iPhone.

I do believe that both snow leopard and iPhone (New) will be talked about.
The event about 3.0 software was covered very throughly, leaving the iPhone only the last 10- 20 minutes to talk about the new hardware, and what modifications have been done to 3.0 software @ WWDC.
The main focus or "wow" factor will be engulfing the audience on all the newest features of Snow Leopard.

Battery Life...

Battery life is a MUST upgrade... if the rumors are true then the faster 3g along with mobiTV will chew up even more battery life. I would like to make sure that apple guarantees 24 hours of rigorous use. That's all I need, with the day and age we are in. It is pretty much expected that you charge your phone every night.
 
Assuming...

Assuming apple knows what they are doing... This should be the first "COMPLETE" iphone. MMS, mobiTV, 3.5g, hopefully built in ichat AV, video calling. This should be the iphone that fills the gap and truly makes it a dominant smart phone. And hopefully shut all the blackberry fanboys up.

1) You are perhaps overlooking that this is Apple. Apple execs takes 10 minutes just to talk about ONE new feature in iPhoto. I doubt they could cover a significantly new iPhone in 20.

2) The invite makes it clear that the iPhone is going to be the star. Considering this is a dev. conf. the invite isn't to welcoming to Mac devs.

Considering this I think the keynote will be flipped from what you are suggesting, i.e., 20 minutes on Snow Leopard... if that, and 2 hours on the new iPhone. I suspect Apple will wait to officially announce 10.6 at the fall computer special event, and that it will ship in October.

And then these people say, "Oh, that icon is purple instead of green!" or, in October, "Oh, see the spacing of the Apple logo in relation to the size of the screen? That laptop is really, really small! It must be a MacBook Nano!"

Personally, I would have thought that since we're NEVER right about this stuff that we'd have given up by now.

It's fun all the same; I'm actually curious why they wouldn't have simply used green, blue, blue, orange in favor of purple, blue, green, orange...:rolleyes:
 
Ooooh boy, it's almost about that time. UMPC's in all different sizes and shapes. I'm looking forward to doing some serious computing on the go w/o always carrying my pro. That 3.0 firm is gonna be something, I think many people will finally feel satisfied; as if they have a complete device now. I just hope they include document editing with that 3.0. :cool:

Or like during the notebook even everyone thought that there was going to be something talked about or done with spotlight because Engadget's invite said "The Spotlight is on NoteBooks."

The purple did seem like an outlier but I think some people just get too heavy into things and see what they want to see.

I agree with you. Number 1 reason I sold my iphone. I couldn't go to work and get a day's usage out of it. Fix the battery life and I'll buy one again Apple!!!
