The roundtrip description only refers to whether or not the files can be created on one, edited on the other, then edited again on the first one transparently, and that’s what Apple IS saying about Logic specifically but not about FCP. No asterisk required.
Roger that. The issue is, at launch it's just going to be a bit of a gimmick for most pro users because their third-party Mac plugins will be unavailable. That's why the asterisk is required. All the people you saw in the Apple promotion video are fake AF. Instead of being overawed that they can draw automation with a pencil and sample wineglass-ring in Alchemy, the first thing pro users would asking is OK but how do I get access to my Waves/Izotope/FabFilter/Kontact...

It's kind of like Apple saying a Transit van is the same as a 42 ton semitruck*

I’d say it’s more like, Apple’s saying “they both move”, others are saying “Yeah, but that’s move with an asterisk because a transit van doesn’t carry as much”. Well, yes, most certainly. But the statement being made is that the “files” are roundtrip compatible, very basic, very low level, very (like move) true. Two systems (whether macOS, Windows, or iPadOS) that don’t have the same plug-ins won’t have the same features present, but that’s the same that can be said of any DAW, it’s not unique to the iPad.

The files are roundtrip compatible, but, as with ANY DAW, users need to understand that it’s STILL 100% up to them to very closely analyze what plugins they use to determine if Logic on the iPad is of any value to them. Thing is, this is NOT something that anyone will have to say to anyone that currently uses a DAW. :) They’ve been dealing with this for awhile and they’re well aware that roundtrip is cool, but plugin management is STILL on them.

I am joining the "Not Pleased with Apple for Making Logic Pro for iPad a Subscription" crowd! I received the email today and installed it on my iPad. As an experienced Logic Pro user and iPad user, I caught on quickly how to use it. It is going to be very useful to me but paying monthly or every year for the rest of my life makes me wonder if is it worth it. After a certain amount of subscription renewals, subscribers should then own it.

Do you need to get an e-mail to download it? I'm not seeing it on the App Store.
Go to this link on your iPad:

Well I downloaded it, tried to open one of my existing Logic Pro projects, and it complained it couldn't open my Logic Pro project because the project doesn't start at 1111, even though it does. Got the same message while trying to open the next one. And the next three. Gave up at that point. Maybe I'll come back to iPad Logic Pro when Apple devs on their eye-watering salaries have undertaken some semblance of fundamental primary-school-grade debugging.

I feel Agile is the root cause of everything that's wrong with how [some] developers deliver products these days, definitely including Apple. They misinterpret Agile methodologies as being all about delivering an MVP they can at least call 'working' and worry about fixing its bugs later.

Since one is subscription only and the other one is non-subscription you can‘t compare apples to apples.
Fine, but one can't announce that X is 'free' and Y is a subscription either. The full version (and therefore comparable to the 'full' version of FC you get with the sub), isn't free at all. Far from it.
