Can someone confirm if iMovie '09 will have the timeline editor in iMovie HD '06? I heard that was the big complaint in '08.

No. A disappointment; however, it will have a precision Editor for frame accurate cuts. It also allows a wide verity of edits, including audio only, insert, etc...

It is a huge step up from last time, but still not where it should be.

I don't miss the time line editor a bit, and find that iMovie 08 work flows worked better for my projects.

Facebook recognizes people's faces?

I know you can manually tag people in photos, but that is it. Seems like iPhoto will automatically look for the same person in other photos in your libaray...which is not something Facebook can do, unless I am missing something.

Looks like a good update to me. I think I will spring for it for the GarageBand update alone, which is by far my most used iLife app.

Facebook recognises there are faces in the picture, NOT a particular face. I am assuming iphoto will be the same.

Anyway, does imovie now contain timelapse again, like the old one ?

admittedly i haven't used it yet, and will be interested to do so - but i got the impression that the precision editor to all intent and purpose was the timeline editor?

I think iPhoto does recognise particular faces - once you've identified a face as John, it flags up all the other photos it thinks has John in as well.
