upgrade from ilife '08

I never upgraded to '09 can i upgrade from '08 to '11 for $49?

Apple's big thing is the App Store now and I still have to wait for them to ship me physical media for iLife???

Even MS lets you buy and download their products from their website.

Why on earth cant I download this today? Do they really need to ship a DVD to me? Because on the webcast I watched him download iWhatever it was.... (I know th Mac App Store isn't out yet...... But still.... WHY?)

I have had my Mac Pro for 20 days, I wonder if I can get ilife or iwork upgrades cheaper? maybe even free?

It looked like iDVD and iWeb still exist. Their icons were still displayed on the big screen, but they were never mentioned.

iMovie and Garage Band (Why not just stick an "i" in front of that, too?) look amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if the "express" versions of Final Cut and Logic are phased out. There's now very little the Express versions do that the iLife suite can't.

Definite buy for me.

Logic Express has a lot more precise editing features, higher quality effects and instruments and more professional workflow, more indepth flex time and the list can go on and on than Garageband '11. The same can be said of Final Cut Express - but the real time editing in iMovie makes Final Cut look slow and off the pace.

I'm surprised there wasn't an iWeb update, but not surprised about the lack of iDVD update. Also, currently there is no tutorials page for iLife.

Dang it, it requires Snow Leopard. I'm happy with Leopard, upgrading to SL seems to be more of a hassle. :(

I think the new photo print design features were very nice!

I can also see scenarios where it'd be very convenient to basically integrate iPhoto with Facebook, so I can see Internet comments while simply browsing my albums.

The only problem is that I need the photo editing power of Aperture 3, so I'm not using iPhoto much today. I may however consider iPhoto as a "showcase" app, where I place my public stuff. It also does Flickr since earlier, so this is quickly becoming an excellent social hub for public post-processed photos. It also just happen to be a great app for doing slideshows too on my TV if someone want to watch them here instead of on Facebook or Flickr.

fbook enhancements seem to be the only update to iweb.
Pathetic. What's the point in touting html 5 if you give your consumers no way to create content using it.

Is it 64 bit?

That's my biggest question.

Seems like a decent update to me. And improved facebook integration is an appealing feature, the current version isn't so hot for that.

Hopefully iWeb is updated, it would be weird not to at least give it a facelift. I guess we'll know soon enough.

Garage Band is getting to the point where it's starting to rival full audio packages.

So is iLife in Apple stores today, anyone know?

We waited over a year and a half for this? This is a totally lackluster upgrade. I guess I'll be looking at Final Cut Express after all since they still haven't added back half the features they got rid of when they went to the "new" iMovie.

Yeah, the update was really weak. Doesn't justify a purchase to update. Only good for new Mac buyers.

Completely agree
Pre-announcment I strongly considered the upgrade.
Post announcement I'm going to buy my dog a $49 toy

so much for a big iweb update. Basically what is included in iLife '11 is the iweb update we got not too long ago.

In the Apple Store it says, iPhoto' 11, iMovie '11, Garage Band '11 (iWeb v3.0.2, iDVD 7.1)
