Wow, better not install iOS 8 on my iPhone now. My app is a complete mess with it, and I wouldn't really know how to fix these strange behaviors.

What if I don't have touch id? Can I still lock apps? I noticed they barely touched on locking apps. Photos wasn't even on the list

Family Sharing Qs

Let's play this out to get to the questions I'd like answered:

Today, Mom and Dad each have their own iTunes accounts that predate their relationship. Mom's paid for her content, Dad's paid for his. Q1: By updating Mom's credit card to match Dad's, do the accounts sync up?
Q2: If dad had an old iTunes account and a newer one, because...life, and they both have the same credit card number, is that going to eat up one of the 6 slots?

Family goes down the road of life and Daughter has her own iTunes account now, shared with Mom & Dad. She's going off to college and getting cut-off from the iTunes gravy train. Q3: Does she have only the purchases made from her account (paid for by Dad)? or is she back to square one with no purchase history? Q4: Does dad (who paid for it all) lose access to the things his daughter authorized through her account?

I was wondering about this to, as I was just discussing it with my mom. She doesn't want much, just accessing her safari bookmarks instead of my dad's would be fine.

Even with iOS 7, you can use individual Apple Ids for everything except for the iTunes and App Stores. My wife's phone has her own apple id for everything and mine for the Stores (for apps). This new feature just allows the kids to have their own apple ids even for the stores and ask your permission to buy the apps. This is more for kids rather than for husband and wife I guess.

It's not rare.

2009 WWDC: iPhone 3GS, maybe more
2010 WWDC: iPhone 4, maybe more
2011 WWDC: ???
2012 WWDC: new macbook refresh, macbook retina
2013 WWDC: New Airports, new macbooks, Mac Pro trashcan preview
2014 WWDC: null

It's rare for there to be no hardware.

I guess what I was thinking in my head is the amount of people who come on to the forums and say how underwhelmed they are expecting Apple to announce lots of different hardware such as iPhone 6, Apple TV, iPad Air 2 etc.

I'm not totally convinced they realise that WWDC is mainly developer focused.

All the hackers will try to break code here to gain access to our data, hopefully the security is rock solid.......
Extensibility
There are thousands of new APIs for developers, and one of the most exciting of those was Extensibility. This feature allows apps within iOS 8 to share information with each other and with the Notification Center. Demoed on stage, Extensibility allowed filters from third-party apps to be used directly on pictures within the Photos app and it also brought Bing translation to Safari.

Extensibility also allows apps to install widgets within the Notification Center, which work similar to existing Apple widgets for the Calendar, Stocks, and more. This was demoed with an ESPN SportsCenter widget, which allowed sports scores to be displayed automatically within Notification Center.

Looks like iOS 8 is still just trying to catch up to Android features. I mean really, my Galaxy S4 can do all of these things and more.

I was truly hoping that Apple would once again come up with some truly innovative features.

No, you weren't. You were hoping to make this statement regardless of what they came out with.

Really... :roll eyes:

What about Continuity, can it do that....can it?

Still complaining about icons. Good to see the more things change the more they stay the same. :)

Copy Android.... Check!
Copy Snapchat....Check!
Copy Whatsapp... Check!

Thanks Apple for innovation!

I hope Google sues the hell out of Apple for it's photocopy version of "OK, Goggle," i.e., "Hey, Siri."

Depends on how you use it. On paper the GS4 does more, but it reality, I used more iOS 7 features than I did on the GS4 I owned. Therefore, my iPhone in its current state does more than a GS4 for how I use it.

Apple Announces iOS 8 with Touch ID for Apps, QuickType, Third-Party Keyboard...

I'm really surprised with the widgets and third party keyboard features. Now there's less of a reason for me to switch to Android.

Some great new features coming to the Mac and to the iPhone and iPad, but for some reason i'm just not excited................

New apple TV OS, new products, new services, PLEASE... (pretty please :()

Here are my educated guesses based on what I've read so far and on Apple's past account handling methods.

Today, Mom and Dad each have their own iTunes accounts that predate their relationship. Mom's paid for her content, Dad's paid for his. Q1: By updating Mom's credit card to match Dad's, do the accounts sync up?
No, but Mom and Dad can now copy items out of each other's collections.

Q2: If dad had an old iTunes account and a newer one, because...life, and they both have the same credit card number, is that going to eat up one of the 6 slots?
Yes.

Family goes down the road of life and Daughter has her own iTunes account now, shared with Mom & Dad. She's going off to college and getting cut-off from the iTunes gravy train. Back to square one with no purchase history.

Q4: Does dad (who paid for it all) lose access to the things his daughter authorized through her account?
Yes.

From the wording I can't tell if non-DRM music that you've already copied from the purchaser (another family member) will remain usable when you exit from the Family Plan.
