Exactly what i want to say. Disappointed.

At least a screen bump right?

Where is the anti-reflection ?

Can’t decide if this is an iPad 1.5 or 1.4. Perhaps the name "iPad Lacking" is more fitting. I'll wait for the REAL iPad 2.

Positives
- Size
- Camera
- Speed
- More case options

Negative
- No LP/TB Support (no port or controller) makes this a relic before its even sold
- RAM ???
- No ‘world’ model; its either CDMA or GSM.
- Screen Resolution is the same
- No super-special daylight viewable screen
- Design has not soul
- GPS not on the Wi-Fi model
- No vibration motor for alerts or games

Am I right in thinking they've reduced the prices of the current iPad by £100 on each model in the UK?! I can't work out if I'm losing my mind or if they've dropped the prices...I assume they'll be back up when the iPad 2 comes out...

I think it's a pretty good update. I'm just not sure it's worth a $600 annual upgrade fee. If I can sell my current iPad for at least $500, we'll see.

I thought the iPad refresh today was rather significant. Last year, the thing was simply a large iPod touch. It seems like the gap between the iPod touch and the iPad had widened even further because of the refresh (which in my opinion is a good thing). And with the same price, this year's model is much more convincing to buy.

I would wait until iPad 3, since it might come out this year, maybe, and since rumors from inside apple are quite clear that the 3rd gen ipad will have much more significant updates. Thats my opinion anyways.

I'll buy one at some point, I just won't run to the Apple store yelling take my money. I wanted to hear about iOS 5 :(

Link to iPad 1 'emotional' video?

Anyone able to find a link to the first video they showed today about the iPad 1? Saw it was quite moving; spoke about helping autistic children. Thanks.

Everyone seems to have missed the biggie.

New AirPlay.

Apps streamed now.

Apple just challenged consoles HARD and no one has noticed yet.

My iPhone controller will be able to control apps on my iPad, my Mac, or my Apple TV.

Wow.

Wooow.

How did you miss this? This is HUGE.
yeah, idk whats with the negatives. Some people just wont be happy.
Im excited, I wish i could afford one right now.

I think it's a good update. Not Great.
My only disappointment is the lack of storage increase. The $499 should start at 32gig and so on.
That said I am buying one March 11 online. No way I am going to the mayhem that will be the retail stores.

The two best things from the show in my opinion: New AirPlay and streaming features in iOS 4.3, and how thin the new iPad is. Personally, I wished they would reduce the bezel a bit (by like, HALF) but that is hardly a deal-breaker. The only thing preventing me from getting an iPad 2 day one is the price. I wish competitors would challenge Apple in that aspect, but Apple really has no reason to reduce the price...

it's interesting to note that it is sim locked

Sim locked? Despite buying the device outright? Pfff...

The iPad should have had the video cameras first time round.. or perhaps because they were too much of a battery drain?

The update was OK - but nothing dramatic. Definitely an iPad 1.5... wonder what iPad 2 has in store?

EDIT: The dual core processor is very nice...

3g question

So if I buy a 3g model do I have to pick ATT or Verizon? Or will one model do both (meaning I could switch back and forth every other month if I had a reason to)?

Apple just slashed the original iPad 16GB WiFi to $399! Refurbs now $349. I might just have to pick up one of these for mom..

It's still a big iPod Touch (kind of more now, with the cameras and new body), but nothings wrong with that.

I agree. Personally I also dont see any real killer features which would persude me to buy one, im perfectly happy with my MBP which does a lot more than the ipad. I think price should come down for the base model at least.

I got exactly $500 for mine, but I purposely sold it 6 weeks ago before the rumors got any stronger. I'll be buying this version for the convenience of having an iPad. But not because this one "changes everything".

Apple Hype.... LOL

boo!

APPLE HAS SUCH A CLEAR ROAD MAP OF TINY UPDATES ALL TO MAKE YOUR LAST PURCHASE SEEM OBSOLETE!

This a MASSIVE WASTE for those who will inevitably buy it after buying the first generation. A press events for .33 cm of space and 'useless in one year cameras' are becoming a huge waste of energy in transportation for the journalists who travel across the continent to report absolutely next to nothing!

A port would have been nice, but what I think is critical is a TB controller to take advantage of the speed that the I/O offers. This, as far as can be told at the point, does not have it. Without this, the iPad 1.5 is old before its time.

TB right now has no use. iPad cant use the speed.
TB will only be usefull when all the other products on this planet adopt this and it will be able to send out 1080p over the same cable as it does to charge up and sync data. TB would only be future proof. but for this year. there wont be usefullness in TB eitherway apple would release an dock connecter to TB cable. i dont think they will ever put TB directly on an ios device.

How about iPad 1.3 as in iPad is 1.3 pounds :p

Apples site says two separate 3G models one for AT&T and one for Verizon
