I'll definitely get one in a month or 2. The only disappointment is the VGA front camera, I would have thought it would be better than 640x480 considering the iPads screen size and the recent FaceTime HD cameras on the new MacBook Pros.
I thought the iPad refresh today was rather significant. Last year, the thing was simply a large iPod touch. It seems like the gap between the iPod touch and the iPad had widened even further because of the refresh (which in my opinion is a good thing). And with the same price, this year's model is much more convincing to buy.
Day 1. I'm sure Apple put more RAM in there, but they dont ever advertise specific specs like that.
Cant decide if this is an iPad 1.5 or 1.4. Perhaps the name "iPad Lacking" is more fitting. I'll wait for the REAL iPad 2.
So you admit that it's lighter than it was before.Almost as heavy.
Please share with us the thinner (there aren't any) and lighter (there aren't any) and cheaper (there aren't any) options. Please highlight the ones that get 10 hours of battery life also. I'd also like notations next to the ones that have rear HD cameras. Please don't include tablets that you can't actually purchase (no vaporware!). Xoom is thicker than the iPad (.5 to .34 inches) and weighs more (1.6 to 1.3 lbs).Same price is doing me a "favor" with all the competition offering thinner, lighter, cheaper, more open OS?
I think what you mean to say is we can have access to it, or have a usable battery. You'll notice that the Xoom didn't even ship with flash (although it's entire campaign was based on that). They can't get it optimized to have decent battery life. See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26574892@N07/5475257624/I know we all hate flash, but the reality is 25% of the top 100 pages on the net still use it, so we can either have access to it or not have access, they go with #2 to try and make a statement
Um, yeah. He has a point. Take RIM for example, which has upgraded the Playbook THREE times and hasn't shipped a single version.Comparing your year-old platform to one that hasn't even been released yet?
Yep. They've had so much success! It's all just a mess, this is Android's year.
I was really hoping they'd wow us with something to give all the new Android tablets a run for the money.
I'm not buying, more for the rest of you.
A port would have been nice, but what I think is critical is a TB controller to take advantage of the speed that the I/O offers. This, as far as can be told at the point, does not have it. Without this, the iPad 1.5 is old before its time.

Positives
- Size
- Camera
- Speed
- More case options
Negative
- No LP/TB Support (no port or controller) makes this a relic before its even sold
- RAM ???
- No world model; its either CDMA or GSM.
- Screen Resolution is the same
- No super-special daylight viewable screen
- Design has not soul
- GPS not on the Wi-Fi model
- No vibration motor for alerts or games
Can anyone confirm how much memory? People are saying 256mb, 512mb and 1gb.
Looks epic. Ordering immediately. Winning.
Wow, Apple w\o Jobs is really tanking quick.
TB right now has no use. iPad cant use the speed.
TB will only be usefull when all the other products on this planet adopt this and it will be able to send out 1080p over the same cable as it does to charge up and sync data. TB would only be future proof. but for this year. there wont be usefullness in TB eitherway apple would release an dock connecter to TB cable. i dont think they will ever put TB directly on an ios device.
You have got to be kidding me. Anyone who was expecting to see thunderbolt on the ipad should remove themselves from the gene pool. By the time we all have PCs that are capable of taking advantage of thunderbolt we'll be on the iPad 5 or 6; then you can complain that it's not there.
Stop confusing resolution with dpi. The iphone 4 has the same resolution as the 2g, 3g, and 3gs - it has a higher dpi.
1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi)

The new cover is lame. I would prefer something to protect the back from getting scratched. Oh well, always 3rd party.
Not sure it's worth the upgrade. I was hoping for a larger capacity.
Did I see something on one of the feeds about the new IPad and "personal hotspot" on Iphone 4? If so, what is it?
