You're welcome brother and sorry for late reply!

Brother, I just realized that in your opinion what makes 16 Pro Max so f'n big when comparing to say 12 Pro Max is the lack of 2,5mm bezel. The bodies are same size as you now are aware. But I blame you not brother, even Kimberly Gedeon from Mashable writes that 16 Pro Max is a phablet. Maybe she didn't compare the body size to previous models, who knows.

Have a good one brother and stay healthy!
Okay, bro. I did not make any claims that it is a new thing that the Max phone is “F’n big”. Arguing that 16 Pro Max is not big because it is the same size as another big phone is just plain stupid. Sorry. 16 Pro Max IS a phablet, just like 12 Pro Max was. Instead of making the screen size larger, by shrinking the bezels, they could have made the phone smaller and kept the screen size.

That does not mean that I think there is anything wrong with buying a big phone if that is what you want. I’m just saying it is not for me. For some, it is the right device. But you can stop being angry with people who call it a phablet, because that is what it is, as defined by the screen size, AND by the body size.

My point is, I don’t think anyone buys the Max phone to enjoy a larger body size. They do it to enjoy the larger screen. Body size is a necessary evil. That is why we are comparing screen sizes, and why body size is irrelevant to that discussion.

Peace.

I would love a mini but I want better features that I can only get in a pro.
So you are in the 95% group. Doesn’t make the argument moot.

I agree with the poster, 5% of iPhone customers are a lot of people. It’s like Apple doesn’t want to accept that 5 different models can’t all be in top 3.

I can live without the fancy cameras, but my dream phone is a Mini with Pro Motion display.

I think you might be wrong…? There are clearly plenty of people in the thread saying pretty plainly that they will not upgrade.
The majority of people are just getting whichever is the new one when the old one is getting long in the tooth. I think it will be a solid but not remakable year for sales. Just like most other years. People (but not me) will still switch from 13s and 14s.

I don’t see anything in the Android space that pushes a majority of people to switch, other than lower price which Apple is unlikely to hunt for. Folding phones are fun and all, but clearly not something that sways the majority, if nothing else then due to price. Take away expensive folding phones, and the Android space is just as dull.

It’s almost never worthwhile upgrading from one year to the next. Phones have been reasonably performance and full featured for years, so the year over year upgrades are incremental. As a result, most people aren’t upgrading every year. The smart plan is to wait for 2-4 years and then upgrade so you get a big jump for less money.
Yup, agreed. In the early years of the iPhone there were considerable jumps and I did change yearly. Now I tend to change if there is something wrong with my phone, or just want retail therapy, not driven by an upgrade. Not even my teen children are like that. My eldest is on a 13 Pro Max, and she is like it's fine, the camera upgrade is cool, but I happily wait until next year's model.

It is a good time being a consumer when the products are so good and so mature.

OK. So what? Not until Apple introduce OLED displays and at least some paradigm shift in product design will I drop £1,400! I'll stick with my iPhone 8 Plus for yet another year I guess...

I will probably upgrade my 11 Pro to the 16 Pro and pass my 11 Pro to my wife, to replace her 8.

I am wondering, how big the images in ProRAW will get as I take a lot of photos during vacations. I am not sure, if the 512GB will be enough, as I do not always have a internet connection to upload images to the cloud...

Not only will iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max cost more, servicing them will also cost more.

Thanks Apple, I will keep my iPhone 12 mini for at least 4 more years.

I’m on iPhone 13 Pro Max and see no reason to upgrade.

My plan is to iPhone 17 Pro Max. But even that is uncertain as Apple seams to in bad faith when it comes to consumer protection regulations amongst other things.

What used to be a certain now will check my options next year.

Apple: iPhone 16 is built from the ground up for AI!
Also, Apple: iPhone 16 will be released with zero AI features.

I don’t disagree, but I would be curious to know which company to support that has better morals. Not trying to do whatsboutism, just literally - I still consider Apple the “least bad option” on that front.

Wow. If it wasn't for Apple Intelligence, they could have skipped this one. What a bore fest.
the part I hate each time Apple releases a new Iphone is all the hype all over the place. a month later but its just the same **** as the pro 15 No **** Sherlock no wonder the smartphone sales are in a downward spiral

I guess you didn’t notice the OLED screen and paradigm shift in product design Apple introduced about 20 minutes after introducing your iPhone 8 Plus.

I am not comparing with any particular company. Personally don't buy products and services based on moral circumstances.

I think objective of a company is to be profitable while compliant with law. That is the least people expect, in particular their customers.

Systematic friction with the law, in particular of democratic countries, is not what customers expect. Neither are customers supposed to solve such friction. It's a basic principle. Unfortunately it seams to be the case in the last 5 years.

Facebook is no surprise considering the scandals it was involved. Yet is financially a free service. Apple is not.

This leads to uncertainty. Hopefully it will be sorted in the next couple of years and back to normal.

Cheers.

Agreed, but, through my lens the consequence of your suggestion is to not buy anything.

Not sure I understood your Facebook comment. I personally have made the decision to avoid ads and ad supported products, to the extent possible. Unfortunately it is hard to do 100%.

I did try to use Facebook’s pay to remove ads tier, before deleting the app, but clearly Facebook would rather show me ads than have my money. Which just fuels my unwillingness to let my world be run by ads. Ad supported is not “free”. You just don’t realise that when you choose Samsung over LG (random example) due to the effect of ads, you are in fact paying Facebook and Google.

There was a lot of rumors, what were you referring to? IIRC the external design was as expected?
I couldn't care less about the external design. ;-) I posted that right after the presentation when it wasn't yet known it came with wifi 7. Expectation was it would also come with brighter displays (didn't happen),a bigger neural engine (also didn't happen. they did increase the mem bandwidth), and a newer camera sensor on the max (nope).
