We're not supposed to, either! As MBKHD once said,
"This phone is a refinement of last years already refined phone."
You don't gotta upgrade every year.
I understand your argument.
But, IMO - Pro means more battery life, features, and performance to work (in any professional field). Not all "Pros" are in the imaging space, nor are they trying to record cinema-quality video on their smartphones. I would argue that Professionals in those fields would used a DSLR and/or proper video camera.
It still adds up to a niche model.Another year. Another no mini. Maybe only 5% of the market yearly but ignoring 5%+5%+5%+5%+5% over 5 years might begin to add up.
Sadly some of their matters with the EU have taken years, let's hope they reach consensus on this faster. It's such a shame EU is making it so difficult for business to operate here. They're putting us behind all others. No date has been announced, but Apple did say that they are working on the details of the regulations in Europe and that they have every intention of making Apple Intelligence available in the EU. It's only a matter of time.
Otherwise, it would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
But most of that 5% market share just “held their nose” and bought a larger & more expensive iPhones anyway. So Apple still got their money and that is what Apple really cares about.Another year. Another no mini. Maybe only 5% of the market yearly but ignoring 5%+5%+5%+5%+5% over 5 years might begin to add up.
It's going to be a rectangular slab for the foreseeable future. Apart from bezels, thickness, under display front cameras, what do you want? If one day they offer a folding iPhone, that too will be a rectangular slab. That's not for us to come up with. That's for the most valuable company in the world that used to be renowned for innovation that has now been re-hashing the same stale basic design for half a decade to come up with.
I don't think mini will come back not anytime soon because even those who held onto mini eventually switched to bigger phones mostly due to battery and then secondary stuff like camera. I am myself onto mini and on the brink of switching to a bigger phone - I really don't want to but I don't have a choice. But most of that 5% market share just “held their nose” and bought a larger & more expensive iPhones anyway. So Apple still got their money and that is what Apple really cares about.
1X and 2X are using the same camera. It is basically just a high quality crop that you can do after the fact by cropping the 1X photo.Question for you experts... Is a 48 megapixel camera that can give you 2x optical quality zoom... in a 12 megapixel image, not just another way of saying "we will crop your photo for you"? And is there a difference between the 48mp camera on the pro vs the one on the non-pro (pro slide shows 2x telephoto but still shows 48mp).

I don't understand how the pro can have a Wide, 1x, 2x and 5x with only 3 lenses.
Tech spec suggest they misled people on that slide;

So not 48MP - 2x Telephoto as per the presentation then. Just a crop, that sucks.1X and 2X are using the same camera. It is basically just a high quality crop that you can do after the fact by cropping the 1X photo.
My guess is that the 16 Pro is using the same sensor as the 15 Pro. The 16 is using the same sensor as the 15. They are all 48 pm but different in other ways.
Ha! These are my personal opinions but I purposely post them for all to see. Too much negativity. ✌🏾Ehm, this is MacRumors, the comments are not supposed to be positive and should only reflect a small angry minority. Thank you.
I stopped doing device payments with the 12PM. I now save the year before the new iPhone launches so that I’m not tied to any carrier with device payments and I own the device outright.I've never known anyone to get a 3-4 year contract with a phone included in the UK. That is just too long, and made to price to be affordable to those who really can't afford it. 12-24 months max it is in my experience.
I found it a bit meh. Nothing that really captured my imagination or where I went like wow I really want that.
You're welcome brother and sorry for late reply!Thank you for adding that completely irrelevant information to our discussion about screen size.
Why does the trade-in get less and less each year? I remember when it was $600 and then $570 and now $520 for my 15 Pro
I think you might be wrong…? There are clearly plenty of people in the thread saying pretty plainly that they will not upgrade.I love these comments. Same thing every year. Boring, same phone as last year, hard pass, etc, etc. Uh, this is just Apple being Apple. Every year brings iterative, minor changes. In the end, all the naysayers end up upgrading anyway. I'd say this upgrade is no worse or better than previous ones. Wifi 7, larger screen, camera button, faster charging, better ultra wide camera, faster cpu. Pretty solid upgrade I'd say.
It’s almost never worthwhile upgrading from one year to the next. Phones have been reasonably performant and full featured for years, so the year over year upgrades are incremental. As a result, most people aren’t upgrading every year. The smart plan is to wait for 2-4 years and then upgrade so you get a big jump for less money.Just to clarify, is the iPhone 16 Pro capable of any AI features that the 15 Pro isn’t? Because if not, the only differences are a camera button (I would’ve programmed the action button to take photos by now if I wanted that), a 48MP ultrawide camera, and slimmer bezels that you won’t notice because you have a case gripping the edges of your phone.
Usually, I try to find the positive side of these updates, but there’s practically no reason to upgrade if you have a 15 Pro. However, I will get the Apple Watch 10.
I would love a mini but I want better features that I can only get in a pro.Another year. Another no mini. Maybe only 5% of the market yearly but ignoring 5%+5%+5%+5%+5% over 5 years might begin to add up.
