What I really want to know is if "Ceramic Shield 2" negates the need for screen protectors.

I need to give credit where credit is due. I predicted Apple would gimp ProMotion in some way for the iPhone 17. As far as I can tell, it is the same as on the Pros. Also across the board on other display specs whether AOD, contrast ratio, max/peak brightness etc. Good job Apple 👍🏻

I'll stick with my 15 Pro, but if I needed a new phone today I'd probably go with a base 17. They do have addressed a lot of the issues I had with it, primarily the display. The bump in base storage was unexpected but very welcome.

The only thing I'd probably miss is the dedicated telephoto lens, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay £300 for it.

I was thinking about getting a Pro, but after this base iPhone 17, it's looking really interesting. Using the comparison tool on Apple's website, it's better than the 15 Pro, but it doesn't have the telephoto lens you mentioned. But if 2x does a good job, that's already great.

I think if you're in the market for a phone then a base 17 is definitely a better option than a used or refurbished 15 Pro unless you really need the telephoto.

For me the upgrades aren't significant enough to justify the purchase, though with trade in it's appealing, but for my use case I can probably use my 15P for at least another 3 years with a battery replacement at some point.

This is the best standard iPhone ever. And the first one im gonna buy without even second guessing it. There is no way I spend much more on a Pro while I rarely use Camera anyway. Im sure my dog dont cares if there are 2 or 3 camera lenses. lol She still the cutest!

It's a really solid base model. I'm debating if I even want the pro with AT&T trade-in credit for the same price since it's heavier and bulkier. The only real advantage is the camera system. (Don't care all that much about usb3 or prores)

My 13Pro will be replaced by 17. I am one of those people who used Pros just because of the promotion displays.

It’s been a while since Apple has surprised me positively and it feels nice.
