I’ve got the Pro Max since they offered it. I rarely use the third camera. I always wanted the large screen and Promotion display.

The new Pros are just not it for me. And they lost the premium look going aluminum. I’m surprised the Air got ProMotion and AOD. Looks like I’m going with the Air this year.

Apple today introduced the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Both devices feature a new aluminum unibody design, with the Ceramic Shield now protecting both the front and back sides.

New color options include Silver, Deep Blue, and Cosmic Orange.

A larger rear camera plateau houses three 48-megapixel cameras, and the antenna system wraps around it. The upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera offers up to 8x optical zoom, up from the 5x limit on the iPhone 16 Pro models. Plus, there is now an 18-megapixel front camera with Center Stage support.

Other key features for these devices include an A19 Pro chip with a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU, a larger battery, a vapor chamber cooling system for improved thermal management, and much more.

Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers the longest battery life of any iPhone model ever, with up to 39 hours of video playback per full charge.

This story will be updated with more details, as they become available.

Ugly!!! No gold or black?

this is the year of the Air..
Yes and no. Most people use their iPhone as their sole camera, and many are going to want more than one lens; despite the various focal lengths in that single lens. So while the Air IS the most exciting and appealing overall iPhone announced today, it's still got quite a few compromises that many will not be willing to put up with (lack of cameras, reduced battery life, USB-2 data speeds, etc.) at that (starting) $1K price point.
