wow, $199 and $299. I guess the folks who sold their current iphones for $400 and up are looking smart now. Still, I may just keep my gen 1 because it's still serving me very well, and it will only get better with software 2.0 (which looks awesome).

To get those savings, Apple had to cut some corners. I'm waiting to see what the screen quality is like. You may find that the old version is...

1. More scratch resistant

2. Better looking

3. Fare better screen.

All things that are not worth trading for GPS and 3G (which appears not to be that significant an improvement over Edge )

I wish they had launched 3G iphone today only. Cant wait any more. Also I never really liked .mac, But count me in for mobileme. I m so gonna love my iPhone.

Pretty solid upgrade. The keynote as a whole was super boring...unusually boring...probably the lamest of all time unfortunately.

I hope those of us who just bought the gen 1 phone will be given some sort rebate or coupon.

also any thoughts on the battery life? I dont know enough about the competitors to know whether 10 hours of 2G talk time is good or not....and are we allowed to set a phone to 2G or 3G talk time or does it do it automatically?

In terms of features and price, I couldn't imagine wanting anything more from the iPhone than what we got today...

I guess some people will moan about lack of video chat... and more storage would be nice!

What???

Not that significant?

Were you watching the same keynote details as me/us?

After Apple gave out those $100 things, I highly doubt they will. They can't keep on compensating people for buying early. It's not fair to the company, especially since it was long-rumoured that the 3G would come out in this summer.

Cannot wait to
get one. I love the fact that it has GPS. I wonder how they got over the battery issues.

I wish it had the front facing video camera or video conferencing

We might still have both of these in the future. A third party app would fit sell in the app store and/or... gulp (don't crucify me for saying this)... a third party camera connected to the dock connector. With the price AND NO SUBSIDY!!!! It was still a great day for me, but since I sold my phone 2 days ago I now must find something to get me through... oh, well...

3x the speed is not significant??? And plus, where are you getting all this screen stuff from?

Oh hello, here we go again!

Surely folks should realise that the early adopters pay more and provide the feedback that makes a cheaper mass-produced model possible. If you thought the phone was worth the money you paid at the time - why don't you think it is worth it now?
