¡¡¡¡¿¿¿¿¿ STILL NOT MMS ?????!!!!!

· NO MMS MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING (you can´t attach pictures or videos to sms messages so if you are outside USA you can´t send pictures to your contacts)

· NO VIDEO RECORDING!!! OH MY GOD STEVE DO YOU LIVE IN WONDERLAND??
· NO REPLACEBLE BATTERY
· NO VIDEO CALLING
· LOCATING YOUR CONTACTS THROUGH GPS?? I DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO LOCALIZE ME!! I LOVE MY PRIVACY

SO WHAT HAS CHANGED???? NOW WE CAN BUY QUICKER THROUGH 3G?? THEY ONLY WANT TO STEAL US!!!

THE NEW IPHNE ONLY USES 3G TO MAKE ITUNES TRANSACTIONS FASTER TO SELL THE NEW PROGRAMS.

YOU ARE ALL BLIND, IT IS THE SAME DEVICE BUT NOW MORE "SELLING CAPABLE"

And you signed up here just to warn us all about this evil conspiracy, yes?

Thanks very much. Now join the rest of the trolls, shills and spammers on my list...

The new iPhone looks great and after waiting year it's time to get on board. Front camera etc is not a deal breaker for me as it's mainly a phone! The main disappointment for me is no MMS, no pictures of my daughter sent as an MMS etc is a real shame, this sort of thing is why people use MMS and what people will miss, also in most plans it's 4 standard texts and if you've got hundreds included you'll never use them up.

I get what you are saying, but honestly in a year or so MMS will be dead because 95% of the phones out there will have e-mail support.

Very intelligent sleuthing!!

There is simply no use for a faster connection to your cell network except to buy stuff from iTunes, which of course (currently?) requires a wifi connection anyways!

Off you go now...

Honestly... I'm not even sure I'll upgrade if O2 are handing them out for free.

Is 3G (and 3G has plenty of coverage issues) worth the horrid black plastic back and nasty tapered edges? I have no use for GPS that triangulation doesn't give.

I don't think it is. A better camera with video would have absolutely sold it. But would it be better to save my "potential" upgrade for the successor, when the hardware improvements that are really needed have been made?

Does anyone know what exactly they meant by "improved audio"? Is that just having to do with calls going over the 3G network?

I was sorely hoping that they'd put a better speaker into this version, but they didn't mention anything beyond "improved audio"...

$199 globally AFTER subsidy. Mark my words. Apple are a business.

If you want to buy offline - a lot more.

Great deal for the networks, great deal for apple (who are now making their money by cutting a deal on the monthly revenue).

If you want to 'jailbreak' your phone - its not going to work since you will be forced into a monthly contract on purchase.

Why do you think apple have cleared the supply chain of 2.5g handset already?? The business model has changed gentlemen.

THey fixed the jack.....that qualifies

Very disappointing upgrade - as some have noted it's basically what the iPhone should have been a year ago. Still, it's pretty much what I expected; although, I was certain that a front camera would be included for iChat. Still no MMS?!?

I'd wager Nokia, SE et al. are pretty pleased, Apple have gifted them another year to catch up and surpass the iphone.

So far the touch diamond, iPhone 3g have been a let down. Unless some of the android devices turn out to be spectacular I'll be sticking with Nokia for the time being.

Plastic!

I think I'll need to rub and scuff the demo model in the store on the 11th...

But I'll still get one anyway.

hmm.. in the UK they will be free..
so that is a brilliant exchange rate if the $199 is after subsidy..

oooh.. its because the $$$ is soo weak!

People said that a year ago when the original iPhone came out.

It wasn't true then and it isn't true now.

I still don't know anyone in my entire address book that uses email on their phone. Meanwhile I've had three MMS this week. I was at a party the other week and took a photo of a friend. They asked me to send it to their phone via bluetooth. I can't. They asked me to send it via MMS. I can't. It's positively embarrassing when any cheapass pay as you go phone from Tesco can.

Apparently you've never used an IPhone if the only reason to get one for you is a front facing camera

Sorry, not making my point clearly enough. My Nokia has many practical/ fun features that the iPhone doesn't have.

Admittedly, the iPhone looks a GREAT deal better and the internet access is obviously brilliant, but it lacks numerous features that are pretty much standard on other 3g phones.

Buying (or not) is a personal choice - much as I really want an iPhone, I don't think this upgrade is sufficiently good to make me splash out the cash and replace my existing phone.

Generally, I also, I wonder whether non Apple committed buyers will see past its lack of features.

I don't get the big deal about the lack of MMS??? I personally don't (and don't know many people who do) use it because of the ridiculous cost (in the UK at least).... what's wrong with sending an email??? (just make sure all you're friends have iPhones or phones capable of displaying email attachments :))

In the U.S. MMS (picture messages) are generally included in text messaging plans and are therefore treated the same as texts from a billing standpoint. Using your phone without a text messaging plan (MMS or not) is generally not a good idea, as the a-la-carte prices are insane. Unlimited Picture/TXT plans in the U.S. are typically between $15-$20.

Picture messages are an easy way to send and receive pictures from friends; if your phone doesn't have that capability, however, you simply won't get the message and your friend likely won't realize that you didn't get it (as it stands with the current iPhone).

Picture/MMS texting could be enabled by a software update, but for some reason Apple doesn't want to do it...

But its not embarrassing for them that their phone doesn't even have e-mail?

I've read way too many of the stupid "I'll pass" messages to not respond this time. Does anyone gain anything useful from you telling them your not going to get it?

Oh I see. We should be happy that this new unit is about a year out of date then?

Feel free to fap yourself into oblivion over what is pretty obviously a minimal upgrade to bring the iPhone up to European/Indo-Asian standards. Well at least the standards as they were a year ago.

Now, what they could have done was:

Better camera. 3.2Mp isn't too much to ask.
Video recording as standard.
MMS, yes it's old tech but it's also really quick and easy to use which is rather the point.
32Gb storage or, at least, an SDHC slot.

The subsidy is a good idea because it makes it competitive with every other phone in its class. Well until you see the contracts AT&T are offering that is.

So, yeah, some are happy and kudos to you if you are. Others, like me, look at it and think "Wait! What?".

But its not embarrassing for them that their phone doesn't even have e-mail?

But, you see, they do. It's just that other manufacturers give you the choice.

Im quite sure now the UK iPhone will be unlocked and subsidized by O2 if you want a contract.
