Any views on why the Motion Coprocessor wasn’t referenced in the A12? The A11 still shows the M11 (if you look at the Tech Specs chip icon) included but there’s nothing shown for iPhones Xs A12. Just curious.

These prices seem exorbitant, but they offer me the opportunity to contribute to the base salaries of modest guys like Tim and Phil
It will make me so proud ... a significant contribution to all those trillions

For me, iPhone XR seems completely outpaced by its predecessor Plus models.
Except for maybe the new CPU (but that hardly needed an upgrade)
What a duhpgrade

Apple seems to be expecting too much with Xr. This phone is for iSheeps who doesn't care about specs at all.

Wtf is wrong with these prices? No new features in the phone but still this high? Even the watch is way more expensive. Crazy stuff Apple is smoking theses days and to think this is without any tariff implications... (overseas pricing is even more ridiculous still)

Anyone else notice how on all of the marketing photos the background around the top of the iPhone is dark so that the notch doesn't stand out? Reminds me of photos around when the first iPhone with a camera bump came out – they tried really hard to hide it in marketing materials.

My brother bought me an iPhone X for my birthday at apple. Is their return policy 14 days? My birthday was August 29 and I'm sure he bought it the 27th or 28th
Wauw, man. That is a near to $300 depreciation in 2 days.
A significant contribution to that trillionaire phenomenon. Be honored.

I swear if they make another Jon Ives video I will implode!
Given the non-transitional state of design, Joni must still be busy with leaking AppleStore roofs in Chicago.

I always hear these "efficiency" comments from Apple - fact is I have a 2011 iPad 2 and a 2016 iPad Air 2 - the old (in technology terms "ancient") iPad 2 still lasts a LOT longer under the same usage than the iPad 2.

Right now, in airplane mode on standby, after two around weeks from fully charged - my 2011 iPad is at 100% battery, the iPad 2 at 78% - are these efficiency improvements ever actually true?
That largely depends on software. Some apps are terribly programmed. Apple doesn’t let you diagnose that (despite a myriad of Unix tools) or automatically exit bad apps and routines.
Meaning that cpu efficiency doesn’t have the slightest practical meaning

How can we have more “features”? How can you all call this boring?? This ain’t Samsung where they throw useless features and gimmicky things to attract buyers. Most phones 7,8,X can do anything. It’s the updates features. Faster processor, camera upgrade, faster Face ID, better AR, i could go on and on.

Smh.

What did you expect? An iPhone that can take you to the moon in a hour???
Don’t get me started:
Significantly better battery life, serious alternative for scarce lithium, more price efficiency, better screen for the Xr, dark mode to deliver more efficiency, foldable screens, better backside materials, less slippery casings, abandon notch/camera bumps, unbreakable cases, better replaceability/repairability, replaceable batteries, for god’s sake why not deliver a better volume HUD, start compliying to Moore’s law offering double price/performance every year. Specwise, and with 10x the budgets, a least stay a few years in front of that Samsung that seems unable to follow your critical expectations...

The problem is, people will still buy it and Apple will not get the message. I just want to see for how long Apple can keep increasing prices.

And I have to buy an Android phone for that? I had S8+ and I got the update to Android Oreo after 6 months. That's a good joke. o_O

So it got a major update around 1 year after the phone was launched. That's how iphones also get new major updates.

"The Super Retina displays have a custom OLED design and support Dolby Vision and HDR10, meaning that you can watch 4K content on the devices"

I don't think this part of the article makes sense, The screen is not 4k, but it supports HDR formats.

You do know A new iPhone 7 and a 2018 IPad is cheaper and gives you a much better movie experiance ..... then a any new i phone with there HDR specs...

I don't get all the whining about the price. The iPhone X did cost the same when it came out a year ago and just last week as well. XS is the same phone with a minor speed bump. Why would it all of a sudden be cheaper? If it's too expensive, buy the XR and if that's still too expensive, buy the 8 or 7, they still have those available as entry level models.

This is how it usually works. If that Ferrari is too expensive, you buy a BMW or Mercedes. If those are still too expensive, you buy Kia or Ford. Why would that be any different with phones?

I guess the theory would be that all the expensive tooling and development from the X is unchanged, the amortised cost of that tooling will have been accounted for long ago in iPhone X sales so there is relatively little expense in the new model - just more profit for Apple by selling at the same price.

But again, that doesn't make sense. There is new hardware in the XS, even if it's just a minor speed bump, it's new chips. So that cost has to be added as well. Manufacturers know how to make phones, TVs, computers, cars, planes, ... so all we should see are price drops. So in ten years, iPhones will be free? That's not how it works though. Every year new stuff is put in phones and other things get cheaper. Apple discontinued the X and if you look at street prices now, you can get one for quite a bit less than a year ago (around the price of a XR). Prices started to drop well over 6 months ago. If they would have raised the price a few hundred bucks, I'd understand why people complain. But those prices are in no way a surprise.

No SE2....ugh. For those of us waiting to upgrade (I have a 4S) and still keep the "classic iPhone" form factor (HP jack and home button) we will have to get the "old" SE. But when they threw up the chart with all the versions going forward the SE was not even listed!!! I hope it is still for sale!!! Yikes:eek:

There are still 6 and 6+ models around. Just not in the Apple store.

Better check your facts. Galaxy line far outsells iPhone globally.
Yeah because they sell 200 different model phones.
Here in the states, Apple sells way more iPhones.
Samsung should be less concerned with Apple, and be more concerned with huwaei.

...Hey, I personally think most posts are pretty balanced. Yes, there are always a few that want everything for nothing, but if they ran Apple, they would learn you go broke quickly packing every feature you can for a cheap price. I think most people (like me) find the new phones amazing - even if small X update - but shocked with the pricing. I'm in Australia and its almost $2900 for the Xs Max 512gb with case, protector and apple care. Great phone or not, I would never pay 2k+ for a phone.
I’m kinda aggravated with Apple with the storage options.
I wanted the 64 gig xS Max, but for basically 5-6 more dollars a month, I got the 256 which is still OVERKILL for someone like me. I’m using a 7 Plus 128 gig and only have used 40.2 gigs.
I can’t understand why someone would need 512 that’s freaking crazy. It would take me 40 years to fill that. I wish they started with 128, then offer 256 or 512.

But I’m a sucker and a tech geek for new devices. I’ve had the 7+ for 2 years so I’ll lrobablg keep

Just the 7, 8, xS xS max and xr now.

I was wondering the same thing! I’m wondering if they did away with it because of new neural engine??? Something like 8 core design if I saw correctly.
