LoL Samsung trowed the same features at buyers: Faster processor, camera upgrade, faster Face unlock, better AR, I could go on and on: fast charger included in the box, a pair of great quality headphones, SD card support, headphone jack etc.
Looks like Samsug's rumored Galaxy S10(which will have an updated design, a much better camera, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and so on) will be too much for the boring iphone S year.
And we all know Apple will sell many more iPhones than Samsung will sell galaxys.

My point was how can you introduce new “features”? We’re already maxed out with features on anything from 7 on. There isn’t much you can’t do on a 7 versus the new ones. But upgraded cameras, processors, gpu, etc is what will get people to upgrade.

My brother bought me an iPhone X for my birthday at apple. Is their return policy 14 days? My birthday was August 29 and I'm sure he bought it the 27th or 28th

This is the perfect year if you didn't beta test an iPhone X. S models > non-S models.

1.5 hour longer battery life, smaller bezels, 7nm cpu, faster faceID, 6.5 inch screen.

This is what the X should've been. Glad I skipped the beta test.
It’s really foolish to call the original version with all new, fresh features and new design “beta”.
many will counter argue with S version you are just paying for something that were new to them last year.

so you will just experience what X owners used and enjoyed last year.
Xs has nothing important over X.

S series are just milking last drops of cash out of likes of you.
The real new version of an iPhone is always the new model number.

S is just leftovers of others “grown out” model with new color for you!

So this is iPhone X non beta. It seems more like the hardware bugfix edition. I skipped the X because I never like to buy first gen of new designs. My first smartphone was the Apple 6s then 8plus so the big excess max edition sounds like a good buy.

Oh that's the one thing that matters now. No arguments = let's start talking about sales.

Well they could have included a fast charger in the box for example.
Also a decently bigger battery or start and 128Gb base and so on.
So yeah I'm not surprised apple discontinued the iphone x.

Wow so much negativity. Anyways, as an upgrade program member, has anyone heard anything about the ability to go from a X to a Xs Max come Friday? It won't have been 12 months yet as pre-orders were taken Oct 27 last year. Either Apple throws us a bone (not likely) or we will be able to order but have to cover an extra month of overlap and thus an extra month of payment. I haven't seen anyone with a definitive answer yet, and that may be because one doesn't exist yet.

Ok, I answered my own question... just now I check apple.com and found the upgrade eligibility link, and voila:

You’re eligible for a new iPhone today with a payment of $xx.xx.

This might be avoided if the phone arrives after 10/2, which it won't if preordered on 9/14 and received 9/21. So if I jump on the upgrade at pre-order, I have to pony up an extra payment it appears...

$2,049 in Oz for a Max 256GB. $2,369 for a 512GB. Jeeeeesus. Plus $300 more for AC. What is going on.

Totally. You can get Watch 3, iPhone 7+ and Macbook Air (eBay) for that money. Its crazy. AU$2800 if adding screen protector, leather case and apple care. Madness. Price shock aside, it appears all three are amazing devices and should be something there for everyone. I know you pay for what you get, but still, 2k for a phone is madness...

It was simply an odd presentation. The Watch 4, yeah that was cool. LOT of boredom coming out of the new phones this time. It's like that at times with the S model Keynotes...but this time it really felt dull.

Anyway, I don't know why I expected for cheaper price point for the OLEDs, maybe I read too many rumors. I honestly didn't see the $1099 starting price for the 64GB Max coming. $999 for 64gb, THEN $1099 for the 128gb.

So...yeah, that was deflating. Oh well, I was wrong.
BUT...still debating of course like I do every darn year.

I hear you. Watch 4 is finally the real deal but can't complain about the Watch 3 LTE I have now. Still impressive watch and while I would love the four, its $200 more.

I didn't expect much in the way of updates so met expecations and Xs Max is interesting. Need to see it. Was very excited and thinking, yep, may be worth upgrading. That was untill I checked the website. Not excited now. Almost AUD$2800 if you add case, protector and AC to the 512gb mode. OMG

Looks like 8+ gets another year

Tough room. No crazy applauding.

Agreed. Not like last 2-3 events. Wasn't sure why everyone clapped when the pricing appeared. I don't live in the US, but those prices seemed expensive to me and clever not to reveal pricing of the larger capacity phones

Quoting myself.... if I wait, I wind up paying the "extra" month anyways so there's no real reason to wait to preorder. What I was hoping to see was the ability to return my current phone after only 11 months without the need for the final payment, but it doesn't look like it.

Did anyone notice how they changed the bottom side of the phone? The speaker grills are not longer symmetrical.

The whole symmetrical issue was a Steve Jobs concern. I don't think it really applies to Apple today.

...Hey, I personally think most posts are pretty balanced. Yes, there are always a few that want everything for nothing, but if they ran Apple, they would learn you go broke quickly packing every feature you can for a cheap price. I think most people (like me) find the new phones amazing - even if small X update - but shocked with the pricing. I'm in Australia and its almost $2900 for the Xs Max 512gb with case, protector and apple care. Great phone or not, I would never pay 2k+ for a phone.

I get the new phone every year. I can't think of a single reason to buy this year except the larger size.
I'm actually in shock at the lack of new features.
Maybe we hit a plateau, who knows.
I do too. New camera features look nice, but I am pretty sure my iPhone X will sustain me for another year now, especially with iOS12 making it buttery smooth. Not keen on returning to a giant phone either.

The Xs Max 512GB model is going to cost ₹1,45,000 here in India which is roughly ~$2000. And this is without the Apple care plan. God, this is just greed.

The problem is, people will still buy it and Apple will not get the message. I just want to see for how long Apple can keep increasing prices.

It’s amazing to think for the price of the XS Max, you can get a 13” top of the line MacBook Pro with touch Bar at JB Hifi when they have a 10% discount sale.

I'm definitely buying the iPhone XS. My current phone is an iPhone 6. I'm long past overdue for an upgrade. And I'm glad I didn't opt for the iPhone X because Apple has made improvements in CPU & GPU speed and camera features.

I'd consider a leftover (new) iPhone X *if* I could get the 256GB one for around $900. Otherwise, I'll pay the $1,149 for the slightly newer technology.

Nothing succeeds like XS! :)

Wow, ridiculously long presentation about environmentally friendliness only to drag it out so that we forget how expensive it is gonna cost; then hit you up with the real pricing:

$1100 for 64GB 6.5" iPhone. AT 512GB, you're gonna be seeing $1499+. NO, JUST NO. For a phone that powerful that cannot even have an apple dex mode? no thank you.

And to have that fatty greaseball Phil sex up his LCD iPHone XR model, LMAO. I don't know about you but no faster wireless charging announced, not one single new worth feature except for AR gaming.

The saving grace is that mega horsepower A12 SOC. But all that power without any way to fully use it. Will wait for sale.

Yes it seems too much of an overkill on the horsepower. The X was already a beast.
