Bye-bye skeuomorphism, we never liked ye.
Have to say I'm not digging the Forstall hate/bashing. Yeah, skeumorphism is a little cheesy but the guy was central to one of the most amazing things at Apple. His work on OS X alone would be amazing enough but it's pretty clear that iOS is the future of Apple and he's done great work on that as well.
Yeah, he's not on Team Apple anymore but I don't think that's any reason to start trashing the guy.
By the way I can't remember where I read this: it's Scott who foresaw the App Store.
I second what you said.

Before the launch of the App Store, there were many people trying to install native apps on the iPhone in an unauthorised way (i.e. jailbreaking). For this reason, Scott convinced Steve to make an App Store, instead of just having web apps.
(please correct me if I'm wrong)
Forstall was one of Jobs' favorites for a reason. There would have been no iOS app store without him. Jobs originally wanted a closed system, but it was Forstall that kept arguing with him about the benefits of bringing in third party developers, and finally Steve agreed.iOS finally has hope! So long Scott!

The App Store is one of the most profoundly evil things Apple has ever done.
Bad move. It's when you give one person too many responsibilities that things begin breaking down.
Lol, that sounds about right.Cook: So Johnny, how is the new iOS coming along?
Ive: Tim, first I meditated on the beaches of South France for a few weeks. Then my team sketched for a few months. Then we began making tiny, life-size molds of every button and scrollbar, in several dozen different space age materials. We sanded them, polished them and had to replace all the lighting in the studio to get the reflectance we wanted on the UI elements. It was all rubbish, so we binned it all and started over. This time we are making all the button models at 100X life size, so you can stand next to it and really get a feel for what that button will look like on our new 8K iPhone displays. I can't let you see that yet, because it's still in the secret lab, behind those doors over there.
Cook: ...so...
Ive: I'm sorry, but your presence is throwing off my Chi. Please leave now.
Cook: ...
We've got a long time until iOS 7, I think it's entirely plausible that Ive's influence will be in there.pretty sure we won't see Ive working on iOS 7 but rather the version after. iOS 7 is still probably under the guidance of Scott.
The following may be a little bit conspiratorial:
'Forstalls older brother, Bruce, has been a senior software design engineer at Microsoft (MSFT) for 20 years; imagine the Thanksgiving dinner conversations.' (http://www.businessweek.com/magazin...orcerers-apprentice-at-apple-10122011.html#p3) What is he planning to do after leaving Apple?
And just for fun:
No wonder why Scott didn't laugh at all except after he had watched the iPad mini 'Piano' ad.

The application is fine. It is actually very good. Like the way it lets you scale and rotate the maps absolutely smoothly. When you zoom in to a higher resolution map, this is done very well. It uses a lot less data for the same display than other apps do, which is especially useful when you're not on WiFi.
Now the data that it uses leaves a lot to be desired.![]()
