You think a single internet forum user can harm developer relations? Why doesn't apple provide better APIs or example apps instead of just sitting back and collecting 30%

I mean, we already know from videos like MKBHD’s review video of a number of Vision Pro-optimised apps that will be available on day one, so why are you persisting with blatant lies?

Hate on Apple all you want. At least hate right.

Apple today announced that over 600 apps with native support for visionOS will be available on the Vision Pro when the headset launches in the U.S. this Friday.

For entertainment, streaming and sports apps like Disney+, IMAX, Max, MLB, NBA, PGA TOUR Vision, and Red Bull TV have all been optimized to take full advantage of the Vision Pro's spatial design elements and immersive capabilities. In addition, soccer fans can subscribe to MLS Season Pass in the Apple TV app.

With the NBA app and an NBA League Pass subscription, for example, Apple says basketball fans can use the Multiview feature to watch up to five broadcasts live or on demand, view real-time stats and scores at a glance, and more.

Other apps optimized for the Vision Pro include Airmail, Box, CARROT Weather, djay, Fantastical, Facades, J.Crew, JigSpace, Lowe's, MindNode, MUBI, Navi, Night Sky, Numerics, OmniFocus, OmniPlan, Parcel, PCalc, Sky Guide, Tides, Voyager by ForeFlight, Wayfair, Webex, Zillow, Zoom, and many others. Microsoft 365 apps like Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word also natively support visionOS.

Apple Arcade subscribers will have access to several optimized games for the Vision Pro, including Super Fruit Ninja, LEGO Builder's Journey, WHAT THE GOLF?, Cut the Rope 3, Jetpack Joyride 2, Patterned, Illustrated, Wylde Flowers, and more.

In addition, more than one million compatible iOS and iPadOS apps will automatically be available on the Vision Pro at launch. These apps have not been optimized for visionOS, so they will have a more iPad-like appearance. In the streaming space, for example, compatible apps that will be available include Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, and Peacock. Other compatible apps include Slack, Todoist, Comcast Xfinity, Sling TV, ESPN, and more.

Night Sky, Zillow, and Zoom are going to run with this. Well, not Night Sky since stars and stuff don't care about AVP and take their time. 365 Office is a stretch.

The IMAX app sounds promising if it means I could watch/stream/rent an IMAX file and not make a trip down to the museum to see it. That's a unique perk of this product... but not at $3500. An IMAX movie ticket with museum membership is $5 ;)
Me too. And the hours are more accommodating, which is a very big plus.

Ok this has my interest! I am an MLB subscriber and watch or listen to about 150 games a season. Having this in AR/VR would be alot of hours of usage. I do not live anywhere near my favorite team's market, so if I could have this? I can even imagine maybe in the future a "pick your seat" kind of option where you could pick a section to watch the game from.
Good thinking. I go to Nate games here and always get seats in the same section near 1st B and I can see where you're getting at.

More than enough for day 1. Expecting to see the list grow rapidly in the coming months.

It’s more like a dozen for me. Alt+Tab >>> having to turn my neck in all directions.
I wonder how long before the complaints of neck and shoulder problems from people wearing the AVP for extended periods whilst doing exactly this. Not to mention issues with eyes. I’m not trolling here. Geniuinely interested.

I’m guessing most of them are essentially iPad apps that have been ported to Vision Pro without any real changes. As a developer, I don’t think I’d worry about converting my apps to Vision Pro anytime soon after watching the reviews.
Did you watch the demo? these are built specifically for Vision Pro. Those which are compatible (with little changes) are currently 1 million Apps available right now.

have you ever used PowerPoint/Word/Excel in a professional working environment? The iPad versions are a gimmick, the Vision versions will be too. No one is doing actual work on those.
The VP version is based on the full Mac version, not the iPad version. It is a full version Office365 which requires subscription.

Yawn. So, basically iPad app windows with more transparency? Do any of these apps actually take advantage of the "spatial computing" aspects of Vision Pro? Do any of these apps actually immerse me, or am I just looking at huge 2D windows floating around the room? What's the point?
Check out Box.

Of course Apple is just sitting back and collecting fee, that’s how they spent the entire 2023 during developer workshop. Too funny.

Wait, based on all the reporting on this site it was meant to suffer from a dearth of native apps because no one likes Apple anymore?

Agreed. I also think it's laughable that anyone believes Vision Pro will make them "more productive". Technology isn't the answer to more productivity. Focus and hard work, that's how you become more productive. I think Vision Pro is a recipe for more distraction, not productivity. Littering one's field of view with app windows won't improve one's focus and attention.
What's wrong with distractions? I work way better when I've got YouTube or whatever else on in the background, because I can take random breaks whenever I'm waiting on stuff, or even if I just feel like it, and that keeps me fresh and engaged, and most importantly, happy. Also, for my work, more 'screens' (up to a point) means less switching windows and tabs and definitely improves productivity.

Maybe your situation is different, but don't assume everyone is that same as you.
