But ipad (vision whatever) versions. Can't use that, at least in what I do. I mean it's great and all but it's essentially ipad apps. Though I'm not sure I'd want to put a headset on to do work even if they were full apps.

A headset that currently weighs almost as much as a 12.9 iPad Pro.

The narrative about developers being turned off by the App Store has always struck me as a hit piece by people with an axe to grind against Apple. This is a new platform, not every developer has the time and resources to support another platform right away, and so I won't be surprised if there aren't as many apps as one might like.

It doesn't mean that there won't be any apps though, and "concern trolling" of the danger of some mass developer exodus appear to have been overly exaggerated. The apps will come in time. As for Spotify, well, I dare them to permanently stay off the vision pro platform, even as they see their subscribers slowly migrate over to Apple Music.
Zero AR apps, all blown up iPad apps.

Apple today announced that over 600 apps with native support for visionOS will be available on the Vision Pro when the headset launches in the U.S. this Friday.

For entertainment, streaming and sports apps like Disney+, IMAX, Max, MLB, NBA, PGA TOUR Vision, and Red Bull TV have all been optimized to take full advantage of the Vision Pro's spatial design elements and immersive capabilities. In addition, soccer fans can subscribe to MLS Season Pass in the Apple TV app.

With the NBA app and an NBA League Pass subscription, for example, Apple says basketball fans can use the Multiview feature to watch up to five broadcasts live or on demand, view real-time stats and scores at a glance, and more.

Other apps optimized for the Vision Pro include Airmail, Box, CARROT Weather, djay, Fantastical, Facades, J.Crew, JigSpace, Lowe's, MindNode, MUBI, Navi, Night Sky, Numerics, OmniFocus, OmniPlan, Parcel, PCalc, Sky Guide, Tides, Voyager by ForeFlight, Wayfair, Webex, Zillow, Zoom, and many others. Microsoft 365 apps like Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word also natively support visionOS.

Apple Arcade subscribers will have access to several optimized games for the Vision Pro, including Super Fruit Ninja, LEGO Builder's Journey, WHAT THE GOLF?, Cut the Rope 3, Jetpack Joyride 2, Patterned, Illustrated, Wylde Flowers, and more.

In addition, more than one million compatible iOS and iPadOS apps will automatically be available on the Vision Pro at launch. These apps have not been optimized for visionOS, so they will have a more iPad-like appearance. In the streaming space, for example, compatible apps that will be available include Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, and Peacock. Other compatible apps include Slack, Todoist, Comcast Xfinity, Sling TV, ESPN, and more.

That’s being lazy, lazy, LAZY. Not putting real effort into the app overall and that will turn away lot of users.

If you want your customers to stay, take time to OPTIMIZE your apps, write new codes and debug.
It's a fresh new platform from Apple, those iPad apps are obviously placeholder while the true VR app store gains traction. Plus the support for apps that aren't 100% made for VR will always come in handy

You shouldn't release a product like this with a lot more VR specifically built Apps

Software is the whole enchilada on devices like these

A $3500 tech demo that runs iPad apps...and with binocular level FOV is going absolutely nowhere

And here I thought Gurman said that app developers aren’t interested/participating in the labs that Apple set up…
Pretty good start imho

Minecraft. That’s what we need.

I’ve thought about it a lot and I need blocks from the windows to the walls

Can you tell us more?
How is the experience shared when you're locked in your own AVP?

Do you mean with other people using an AVP I assume?
Good question!

What I mean is that designing fully immersive spaces that completely take over the users environment is a lot more intimate (from a developer perspective) than designing for touch screen devices. The Vision Pro literally allows me to create and share digital worlds.

That being said there are definitely some limitations that I didn’t expect… Hopefully Apple continues to develop Reality Composer Pro a LOT more!

If "native support for visionOS" means that it incorporates spatial computing features, that is pretty impressive. That is a lot of choice for a new category of device. My app (when its done) will NOT support visionOS, as it has no need or use of a spatial component :).

600 Spatial Computing apps that take advantage of the AVP's unique features is very impressive. Well done all!
