Then just buy a MacBook Pro. If you hate the price, then get an HP Envy. Problem solved.

Are you being sarcastic?

Yeah. That was all sarcasm.

Personally, if I like the machine in person, I'll be ordering one. The additional $200 for the processor bump and the 4GB of RAM hurts (it puts the 11" machine at about $100 more than I paid for my 13" MBP... that includes the 128GB SSD) but... this is basically the machine I was hoping for. The resolution was even higher than I expected. (I wish the 11" had the SD card reader, but... that's minor.)

Why the SD card slot, now? The old MBA didn't have it. Apple is moving away from traditional media towards downloading from cloud. So, why the SD card slot? I'm not a big photography or video buff, but can't you download content from your devices via USB? So, why add the SD card slot to this model?

No, you can't. On newer cameras, you need special software do download pictures, no more drag & drop from the Finder. And everyone hates special software.

So to solve this, you can just take the card out and put it in the computer, and not fiddle with stupid cables, and stupid peeling off of rubber mini USB connection covers on the camera.

And you can't download everything from the net, you will often want to transfer stuff from one computer to another, take files with you, etc... You can no longer do that with a CD, since the Air doesn't have a CD drive. So you do it either by USB drives or SD cards. The SD card, as another possibility, adds flexibility, slightly compensating for the lack of the CD drive.

When I upgrade in 2012 late I really hope then the 11.6" Model will have a 2.6GHz NEW Processor and 512GB SSD + Storage. I'm happy after that!

That would be quite the dream, it's very hard to create ULV/LV processors with high processor frequencies.

By 2012 you will likely see some derivative of Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge which are 20% give or take faster per clock then current Westmere/(Arrandale) derivatives.

I doubt you will see a 4x fold increase in flash memory space for the lowest option, but we shall see.

They do when they fight for the same wallet.
The iPad gets high marks for dumb computing device. The problem is that it's a dumb computing device.

I'd have to abandon OS X to go that route. *grits teeth*

It's all about the Turbo Boost now. You're not getting much higher clocks but you don't have to be stuck at 1.2 - 1.4 GHz for every minute.

The most relevant change to me are the new MBP style hinges. Now you can open it beyond the 90degrees of the last gen MBA. That was the most annoying "feature" ever! You had to place it at eye level to be able to read the screen.

Wow fantastic update! I'm really liking the mini flash drive replacing the standard install DVD's.

So this "Facetime Camera"- I wonder if that basically means it's using the same camera lens the iPhone 4 has. And, if so, is this a better camera than is offered on the current MacBook Pros?

I'm pretty sure they just pasted in Facetime over iSight.

I am extremely tempted to get the cheapest 11" option. I don't see how 2GB RAM is really a limitation: I'm not planning on using it for Photoshop or Illustrator because I have an iMac for that, which works very well with only 2GB. I'm slightly worried by the thought of only 64GB as a drive capacity, but again, I would be using it more or less as a better-protected iPad, for going to see Clients and a little light travelling duty, so I think it would be OK. Perhaps springing for the 128GB would make more sense. Would 64GB be a serious limitation? My 32GB iPhone still has 23GB free space on it, so I remain to be convinced. Convince me, somebody. :)

This is why I keep coming back.

Eh?

You'd likely be fine with 64 GB. Just think of what you absolutely have to have at all times. Everything else can go on an external HDD that you hook up to at home. You could also hook said HDD to a router that supports it and access it from anywhere in the house.

OSX will require 10GB to itself.

No, is just a label to make people matching a feature with another.

Before was the iSight as Apple was selling their own WebCamera, that later has been builted in.

Now their taking the FaceTime and associate it with the built in camera former iSight.

Still no Kensington lock. Useless for people who have to actually use this portable device in e.g. a library...

6GB for Snow Leopard.
Hmm, that's a better thought. :) How big will Lion be, though? I remember dumping unneeded extensions from OS9 to slim it down as much as possible, but I guess you can't really do that any more, except getting rid of Printer Drivers, Asian Fonts and Localisations.

I would never give up my 64Gb ipad...IOS 4.2 is almost here...its a totally different device compared to the 11.6 inch MBA...but I do want one of the MBA...they look so awesome! Its the perfect notebook. The Ipad is the perfect tablet...especially after IOS 4.2...

My iPad flew out of my window as soon as the keynote finished.

Seriously, I am already selling it and so my trusty MacBook4,1.

No matter how I like the iPad I need a laptop to do my work and my MacBook is a drag to take around, the iPad doesn't let me do what I need, and my found are running low as Apple is sucking my money all the way down.
