Do you just hang out on MacRumors to troll?

The point of the phone is that it has the innards of the latest and greatest while retaining an easily one-handed form factor. Not everyone wants a toast-phone. This is a big selling point for a lot of people actually.

That's great, you are espousing how happy you are with the phone, you are entitled to your opinion. Conversely I think they should have put in a larger screen, that's my opinion. I'm not sure when voicing your opinion became "trolling", but if so then we are both guilty.

Yes, can anyone confirm which TouchID sensor it uses? It surely isn't the 6s sensor, but is it really the first gen (iPhone 5s) TouchID or (and I hope so) the second gen TouchID from the iPhone 6?

According to Apple's compare section the SE does not have the 2nd gen Touch ID. Which is kind of disappointing, I was hoping it would have it.

I think is pretty clear that Apple won't be removing the large bezels top and bottom anytime soon even on the iPhone 7. The bezels just add extra height to the 6s that I just don't like and I HATE the side power button.

This is why I am going back to the smaller form factor of the iPhone SE.

People in this forum delirious? I've read the phrase "love the design " like 300 times. Dudes, this is a 5 year old design, it started with the iPhone 5. I know you feel good about the design and its nice and all but man.

Not sure what kind of connection you have, but I'm enjoying Daredevil on Netflix at 4K. My connection is 200mbs and I'm not having any problems. Sure content is limited now, but that will change in a few years.

I'm not sure you're following... first, why would you want 4K streaming? Second, do you realize *real* 4K doesn't even work on 1.x HDMI, let along a slow (even at the fastest) Internet connection? They are compressing the $#*@(% out of it, just do you can be impressed with 4K as a spec. I'd rather have a higher quality 1080p stream (which is *STILL* highly compressed).

Shooting in 4K is a completely different story, as that will affect the project outcome. In other words, it isn't silly at all to have a video camera that can shoot in 4K, even if *NO* consumer had a 4K device to display.

This phone and it's pricing shows that Apple is afraid of declining iPhone sales. If Apple was on track to beat their sales numbers, this phone would never have happened. This Phone will reduce the Average selling price for iPhones, which will not make shareholders happy.

Yea, I'm sure that factored into it, especially trying to make this a one-model-solves-all kind of thing. (I've argued they'd have been better off with a true 4" iPhone in the line, and then an SE with feature limitations for the lower-cost market.) But, I think this was a pretty good shot at it.

That said, it isn't exactly a problem of declining sales, as it is a leveling off, IMO. The problem with wall street is that they want futures, not just a solid business. As for not making shareholders happy... you aren't going to make the wall street mineded ones happy unless you're running the company out of business doing stupid stuff. So, screw them. The folks who actually hold Apple stock as an *investment* don't care about those antics.

Who cares if it's 100 year old design (aside from that being before smartphones). Good design, is good design. You're talking about fashion. We traditional Apple folks never cared much about that (despite the rumors).

To be honest the 2nd gen ID touch is in a way too fast when you using an iPhone.

Yea, that's what I've heard from some friends as well... that 2nd gen is almost too fast. So, if that's the case, I'm fine with 1st gen. I don't remember people complaining about 1st gen.

What does matte edges mean? So it's not diamond cut? So it still has the same edge but just matte black?

Customers should be offended at the way Apple described and patronised users of the "smaller" iPhone, or more accurately, original sized iPhone at the keynote. It was in really poor taste to spell out the reasons why customers might want a regular size phone. Not everyone wants to super-size their fries. Such a sloppy presentation with no pizzazz of previously launches. Uninspiring. Terribly disappointed.

No 3D Touch. No problem, it's a feature that no one tends to use anyway. I have had s 6s for a month and not needed it once.

Not that I disagree with it's usefulness, but I need to point out your incorrectly saying that 3D Touch is something "needed" for use. It is not. It is something to increase efficiency and speed. If you're fine doing things that take a little bit longer, that's fine. Think of 3D touch as a shorkey.

Even the iPhone 6 at the same capacity costs $150 more while being half as fast. And they're still selling the iPhone 6.

For Apple, this is a budget device. I don't know if they ever had a an iPhone at this price, let alone a brand new model. I think they packed it with a lot of features for the price point. The closest device before it was the 5C and that was embarassing in both feature set and price.
IIRC the iPhone 5C was even pricier than this...

I actually really like the phone, as long as it has 2 GB of RAM. The design of the 5s is my favorite and this is just an evolution of that. If I was in the market for a 4" phone I'd probably buy this.

What's there to be shocked at? The $399 starting price is ridiculous, only a fool would pay that for 16GB device. The real starting price is $499 for the 64GB.
It could be ridiculous for you, and maybe for me too... But I know quite a lot of people, my wife included, that use a 16 Gb iPhone and have 4-5 Gb of available space.

I wonder if the naming scheme introduced with the iPhone SE will carry over to this September's iPhone release?

2016
iPhone SE (Small Edition): based on 5s
iPhone ME (Medium Edition): based on 6s
iPhone LE (Large Edition): based on 6s+

Antenna lines removed/minimized, dual-lens camera, A10, 3.5mm jack removed, stereo speakers, etc.

2017
iPhone SE 2: based on 6s, maybe new design (March)
iPhone ME 2: new design (June-Sept)
iPhone LE 2: new design (June-Sept)

New designs to mark the iPhone's 10th anniversary in June 2017 with A11, mLED and real wireless charging.

Hmm

I think the iPhone line is too confusing as it is and they need to simplify to
iPhone SE
iPhone
iPhone Pro

Think about it, when they advertise an iMac they don't call it late 2015 model or early 2011 model or anything like that. Just simply iMac.
