Late October? Bummer. Also no mention of Amazon Prime... hopefully that will be in place before launch. i probably won't purchase until I know it has it as that is one reason I don't use my AppleTV much anymore since I do a lot with Amazon Prime.

Very excited about this. The only thing I was really disappointed about was no mention of a TV subscription service. We still need archaic rabbit ears for local channels and the only real option is Sling TV with it's limited lineup. I guess they must be working through deals with the major networks before releasing anything about it.

I assume it's not going to have DVR, which is unfortunate. I'm not ready to give up cable and move entirely into the on demand domain yet and without a DVR feature I'd have to run this alongside a TiVo and I don't think it offers enough extra to make that worthwhile.

I wonder if apps like Vudu (which I assume would get approved) will be able to be included in Siri's movie/TV search?

So disappointed. Was expecting so much more than Siri. Plus it's not 4K compatible so I'll be sticking with the Netflix app on my 4K SonyBravia. This has nothing for me at all, gutted!

Are you getting 4k netfilx through the Bravia App now? I haunt checked for months lol.

I'm guessing that Apple doesn't have any interest in DVR capability due to iTunes content. That's what they are pushing. Why would they want you to be able to record TV when they want you to purchase it on iTunes. They seem to be on the side of cord cutters, even if it's only for their gain.

I am going to venture to say that 85% of the population does not have the internet ability to stream 4K without problems (either by choice of plan or a terrible connection like I have). In time, 4K makes sense, but for todays internet I don't see an issue.

If they launched a 4k AppleTV, then they would need 4k content available in the iTunes store, regardless, anything short of full UHD support (4k resolution + HDR + extended color range) would be pretty short-sighted at this point.

Why wouldn't they put the A9 in it? That's just dumb. They probably won't be updating it frequently so they should have went with the newest possible chip.

The more important question is, does anyone know if they lobotomized the A8 chip like they did in the previous versions of the Apple TV?

Apple TV S will have 4k. ;-)

Seriously though, there is no content that I am aware of that is 4K not to mention only a small percentage of users will even have a 4K TV. Add to that the enormous bandwidth needed to stream it and it's no wonder it doesn't have it.

Too many important details glossed over. A few that stand out are how do iOS devices join in? Do they need to have a copy of the app or will there be a a universal remote? Will other bluetooth gaming accessories work or will it be limited to MFi devices? Will we be able to limit the search to free or "free to me" options since I have no interest in being pitched a rental?

Ugh, I have to wait until October?

Also, interesting that the AppleTV starts at 32GB, but the iPhones continue to start at 16GB. Seems like with 12MP photos and 3-second video clips added to each photo you take by default would require quite a lot of space...

Regardless, NEW APPLE TV!! Woo! Hope my smartDNS continues to work with it - that MLB.tv demo looked amazeballs.
