This may be finally the laptop I get. The nTB MBP didn’t get current processors and still has the 2nd gen keyboard.

Sure the 3rd gen keyboard isn’t perfect. Hopefully better than 2nd gen.

Literally a 13" Retina MacBook with an extra port. And cheaper.. what

But the MacBook started at 1299 with 256GB SSD & 8GB Ram. So yes new MBA has higher end i5 and 8Gb Ram but you're losing the storage. Wonder if this is replacing the non Touch Bar MBP or 12 inch MacBook. Guess we gotta wait til Apple's website gets updated. I hope they drop MacBook 12 price.

iOS Blog?

My thoughts exactly. Even the 12 inch possibly
[doublepost=1540910282][/doublepost]

Were people thinking it would go away?

I was thinking it would be merged with the MacBook. I am a little surprised there are two non-Pro MacBooks. Apple isn't lacking for capital so it must make business sense.

Jesus, it’s about time.

Would have preferred the keyboard of the previous Airs, and USB-A. But whatever, I’ll take it.

The 12 inch “MacBook” is still a nice option for people who travel a lot and need the smallest possible macOS capable laptop. But I think this new Air will cannibalize MacBook sales.

US$ 1.199? No, thank you, Apple.
US$ 1.299 I could get a MBP far more powerful.

No you can’t. The New MBA is better in every single regard than the non-tb MBP... the Touch Bar is the next step up, with quad core CPUs and more premium components.

No way am I buying one with this keyboard, it's borderline unusable to type on and people are still reporting tons of failures. They should never have put it into production, but Jobs wasn't there to kill it...

Only Apple makes good trackpads. The old Air was the last laptop made (by any manufacturer) with a good trackpad and a decent keyboard.

I expect a spec bump and... who the hell knows what they will do with the price? Also very curious about the difference between new Air and (new? old?) rMB.
1.3”? Lol jk

But yea Inc interested too. Maybe we get lucky and the air gets a fan to keep the cpu and graphics cool.

So I missed a part of this (dang students!), it's USB-C, which is a bummer but not a non-starter. But what else is there? Does it still have the SD card port? That would kill it for me, cause that's how I get more storage.

Looks like a perfect replacement for my 2010 11" Air. :)

I'd expected it to stay at $999 (for the base), hoped for a reduction and feared a increase in price...but all in all (and with the student and teacher rebate) I'm really happy with a new, upgraded, modern Air. :)

Nearly a perfect laptop! I just wish it had a USB-A port (I know it probably won't fit the thin chassis). I'm all for USB-C, but the uptake is extremely slow and I still use USB-A often
A 3$ part. Just keep them plugged into your accessories you use. It’s not a huge deal really.

There certainly were a few that wanted Apple to kill it, personally I'm glad it's got updated - Although I'd still prefer a new 11" model (although with my bezels on the 11" this isn't too far off).

yeah 11 seems sweet spot for air. when apple products start getting close to spilling over into the next higher price similar item (MBP) I tend to just pay up the difference.

Anyone still bitching about the keyboard is insane. There is more than enough travel in the keyboard! Let go of the past. I truly can not see how anyone wouldn’t like it or need more depth. Hurts your fingers? Get out of here
What stone have you lived under the last couple of years? Stuck keys is the most annoying thing ever. I recommended the new MBP to my brother, the SAME day he got 2 stuck keys.
