As the Air had 1440x900, this new one will have a higher resolution than the 13” pro. The MacBook line is now a mess.

This pretty much confirms what a few of us have been saying for years - Apple has been making a replacement Macbook Air since 2016. They just called it the Macbook Pro temporarily.

No processor upgrade options. $200 to upgrade from 128 GB to 256GB is such a complete scam.

Not once you factor in the $200 to get to the same amount of storage. It is just the rMB refreshed to replace the ntbMBP at essentially the same price point, with the option to go inadequate.

Eliminates the cheaper entry point to the Mac and otherwise just makes one less machine to manufacture and support.

Recycled aluminum and touchid were the only two uplifting things about this one.

I’m surprised there are no CPU upgrade options. I guess Apple wants to keep it simple and push the Pro for those who want quad-core.

It is using the i5-8200Y processor not the U series.

Well that bites. I've used that (SD card) on Macs for years now to increase storage. I guess it's back to cloud drives for everything.

The still sell the nTB 2017 MBP 13" with 7th Gen Intel processors for $1300 is the new Air better or nah?

You got it cheap. Here Apple is asking for 1379 euro for the base model. That is 1567 US Dollars. 100 dollars above what you would get by adding VAT to the price in euro.

I'm highly surprised the nTB MBP is still listed in the Apple Store, now the new MBA is available. The lineup now is a terrible mess, with MBA and nTB MBP being priced rather similarly (and with the loss of the $999 bracket).

Plus, I believe there won't ever be a $999 notebook made by Apple again. That's their new pricing point for iPhones and iPads.

I was thinking the same! The only change I noticed outside Air and Mini sections is that pink rMB is no longer available.

I can live with hurt fingers if they make one that doesn’t need to be sent in for 30 days every few months to fix the keyboard when everything else handles the same environment just fine.

This company has lost its leadership for a while now. Starting to think my cat would make a better CEO.

I stand corrected... the non-touch bar 13" uses a better CPU/GPU. The MBA seems to rely on an Amber Lake part, but I can't find it listed on Intel's website? Something custom I guess?

It's like the 13" Macbook Pro but even slower for more money. Huh?! It's not even really lighter or smaller either. Nor does it have a better screen or more ports or anything.

    What am I missing?

Price in Norway, with the EDU discount, for the 16GB/512GB config, NOK 18.883,75 including taxes (that's >USD2300).

    Pricey!

    But I still want...no...need it! ;)

That''s the only candidate I can find, too... which is a bit odd since that's a 5W Y-chip, that _should_ be in the MacBook, not the Air...?

Cry cry cry. More options is bad? Never say never. What about discounts from work? Education? Add in a price reduction from apple in a year. It will get close.

So didn't everyone want an updated Air with all the ports still, Retina screen? And you got...literally...the same thing Apple offers called the MacBook?
