Literally a 13" Retina MacBook with an extra port. And cheaper.. what

Not once you factor in the $200 to get to the same amount of storage. It is just the rMB refreshed to replace the ntbMBP at essentially the same price point, with the option to go inadequate.

Eliminates the cheaper entry point to the Mac and otherwise just makes one less machine to manufacture and support.

Recycled aluminum and touchid were the only two uplifting things about this one.

I’m surprised there are no CPU upgrade options. I guess Apple wants to keep it simple and push the Pro for those who want quad-core.

€1349 for 8/128 GB... no 1TB version, and difference between 512 GB and 1.5 TB is 1000 euro. ONE THOUSAND.

Welp.

*decides the herpes edition quad-core 4xUSB-C Pro isn't such a bad choice after all* *or more precisely X1 Carbon*
You got it cheap. Here Apple is asking for 1379 euro for the base model. That is 1567 US Dollars. 100 dollars above what you would get by adding VAT to the price in euro.

I'm highly surprised the nTB MBP is still listed in the Apple Store, now the new MBA is available. The lineup now is a terrible mess, with MBA and nTB MBP being priced rather similarly (and with the loss of the $999 bracket).

Plus, I believe there won't ever be a $999 notebook made by Apple again. That's their new pricing point for iPhones and iPads.

Apple in New York today announced an update to the MacBook Air, which includes a Retina Display, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and one headphone jack. Apple says every part of MacBook Air has been redesigned and reengineered for the new generation, centering around the new Retina Display.

The new MacBook Air has 50 percent smaller bezels, a 13-inch display, 4x the resolution with over four million pixels, and 48 percent more color. This version of the MacBook Air also includes a Touch ID sensor embedded in the keyboard.

More information to follow...

Yup I agree

Anyone still bitching about the keyboard is insane. There is more than enough travel in the keyboard! Let go of the past. I truly can not see how anyone wouldn’t like it or need more depth. Hurts your fingers? Get out of here

I can live with hurt fingers if they make one that doesn’t need to be sent in for 30 days every few months to fix the keyboard when everything else handles the same environment just fine.

No you can’t. The New MBA is better in every single regard than the non-tb MBP... the Touch Bar is the next step up, with quad core CPUs and more premium components.

I stand corrected... the non-touch bar 13" uses a better CPU/GPU. The MBA seems to rely on an Amber Lake part, but I can't find it listed on Intel's website? Something custom I guess?

They have. It’s called gen 3.

It's like the 13" Macbook Pro but even slower for more money. Huh?! It's not even really lighter or smaller either. Nor does it have a better screen or more ports or anything.

What am I missing?
Battery life

Price in Norway, with the EDU discount, for the 16GB/512GB config, NOK 18.883,75 including taxes (that's >USD2300).

Pricey!

But I still want...no...need it! ;)

Is this the cpu in the new air?

It’s the only dual core 8th gen I could find

That''s the only candidate I can find, too... which is a bit odd since that's a 5W Y-chip, that _should_ be in the MacBook, not the Air...?

Cry cry cry. More options is bad? Never say never. What about discounts from work? Education? Add in a price reduction from apple in a year. It will get close.

So didn't everyone want an updated Air with all the ports still, Retina screen? And you got...literally...the same thing Apple offers called the MacBook?
