Base model 14" has seen an increase on the (UK) price to £2149.
But I've noticed the Refurb 14" has gone down from £1619 to £1459.
Glad I waited instead of ordering last week! 😅

This is a solid upgrade but not for someone who already has an M1 version. I wish I had that wifi 6E though, my router recently had to be replaced and I wanted to future proof and got 6E. The problem is I don't have a single device that has it yet. Though even without it the signal for even non 6E devices is much better.

My wallet is screaming!!!

Canadian prices:

$2,500 for 14-inch base
$3,100 for 16-inch base

*sigh*
you mean

$2,599 for 14-inch base
$3,199 for 16-inch base

that's an extra $100 you were missing. what a joke because base config is basically crap.
you are looking at $4000+ for any configuration worthwhile to last you more than 3-4 years. There is no upgradability so you are forced to spend it upfront. At least back in the day you could buy third party ram to make your machine last longer. This SoC crap is an inventive way for apple to reap all those RAM profit margins and storage upgrade profit margins upfront. Just a disgusting company now. Like, REALLY disgusting. I have no idea why people keep buying this crap and supporting the greed.

Wow UK prices are even higher than was expecting. Better off going for M1 versions imho
I bought an M1 mini the month they were announced, and got a CPO M1 MBA last year, still loving both even with some video editing & music production work which barely strain the machines.

Me lusting after anything M2 is like wanting a McLaren that goes 0-60 in 3.1 seconds over the McLaren in the garage that goes 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. More bragging rights on paper than I'll ever see in real life.

I'm confused. Apple Removed additional encoders/decoders

M1 Max has 2 of each whereas M2 Max only has 1??

Who can afford this crap.
I can afford it. Apparently millions of others can as well.
it costs more than ever
No it doesn't. Inflation and currency exchanges are things. The base model in the U.S. costs the same as before. Some models cost less than the old ones.
The SoC should be making things more affordable.
It is. See the base Mac Mini (cheaper than previous model) and my answer above.
What is wrong with this company.
That's a good question. Probably lots of things.
The GPU is still an internal GPU only useable on MacOS.
Yes, although progress is being made with Linux.
This machine is not business class as it can't run Windows anymore.
Okay...not all businesses need computers running Windows. Those that do can always run a server running Windows that computers can connect to with a remote desktop. Or just buy computers running Windows.
They are out to lunch.
Hopefully people at Apple eat lunch.
There is goign to be a day people get tired of logic and final cut and what will apple be doing then.
Maybe sell computers that do other things than Logic and Final Cut...

I like the list of updates and I would buy it if I were using an Intel MacBook. I am extremely happy with my M1 Pro MacBook Pro and I will consider an upgrade at 3nm. I do not need an upgrade for my current workload. I'll just enjoy these vicariously through you guys that do upgrade.

What an utter rip off in the UK, you would have to be a complete buffoon to buy one over an M1 version now.

Apple are out of their freaking minds, pure greed and I hope it comes back to bite them.

More and more I wonder if its truly worth it anymore, thankfully Europe isn't Apple obsessed like the US.

It's so you buy the next step up. It is all marketing mumbo jumbo now. It really is so blatantly obvious they are greedy. Tim Cook has sealed the entire production and profit chain now. They see the entire life span profit of a machine now. They have made it so you need to do all your upgrading on initial buy (preventing third party upgrades). If they need arises for upgrading, you need to repurchase a new machine. Glued batteries and repairability to be apple exclusive. There is nothing a normal person can actually do long term to these machines that doesn't include apple being involved. Please stop supporting this greed.
