The real question is how does one remove Ping from the sidebar?

True.
I don't say this about a lot of Apple products, but I'd really like Ping to fail terribly.
Hmmm....one million people may have joined....but one million users?? I signed up. There's really not a whole lot to "use" there. The only bands you can "follow" are the 20 or so that Apple is featuring. Steve said follow ANY of your favorite bands. I'm not seeing it. I found some band pages, but there's no way to follow them.Apple today announced that over one million users have joined Ping

...and the social media cancer grows a little more.
and there will be about 1,000,000 unused "Ping" accounts after the weekend... seriously though, what good is "Ping" if you can not connect to other social networks and you can't even use applications such as "Address Book" to automatically search and add friends? I registered but lost interest.

I don't like how the music that you have in iTunes from your own cd's don't show up. This causes your top 10 to be slanted horribly from who you really like to listen to in iTunes
Apple is good at making and selling products, I don't think they really understand non-commercial social activities.I really dislike how deeply integrated Ping is to the iTunes Store and how incredibly separated it is from your own music library.
I agree with you but I dont think this Ping thing will go very far.
