Hello 'Yosemite 2' I will be sticking with Mavericks for another year then.
It's not even out yet, and the focus is on stability and performance. Maybe wait until September to reserve your judgment.
Although not having problems with Yosemite, that '50% faster renderings' sounds so sweet to my ears..

if Metal finally means that Autodesk will bring Inventor Pro to OS X(probably just Maya and AutoCAD ported to Metal but fingers still crossed), and the ram footprint of the os stays roughly the same or is decreased relative to Yosemite I'm all in for this update... but not all in for the name of it
Change is very stressful to many people - sometimes they confuse different with a problem. I would take the time to test El Capitan before walking away.

Snow Leopard was just as boring. But at least the presentation was a bit more convincing.
Could Apple seriously not come up with a more appealing name than "El Capitan"? That is the worst name for an OS in my opinion. Good thing it's features amke up for it's un-impressive name. Anyway, anyone know if those who are current Public Beta testers for Yosemite will automatically be able to beta test El Capitan, or will we have to re-register?
I love METAL in OS X. When they announced METAL last year, the first thing in my mind was that they should bring this to OS X and make it the default 3D API instead of Open GL.
And that's exactly what they did. Open GL is in a transition anyway, it'll be couple years before we get Open GL NG. During that time Windows will get DirectX 12, this year, and Apple will get METAL, again, this year.
By the time NG releases, I wonder how relevant it'll be.
