A dumb question(s):

Is this the total number of pre-orders in the first day, including resellers and carriers, or is it just the pre-orders on Apple's on-line stores? For that matter, does Apple even know exactly how many have been pre-ordered on the first day through other sources?

Leave to Steve to die within days of the 4S launch. This was his "one more thing". His death has put Apple and the 4S in the headlines and I'm sure it has helped sales.

I think this is a big change in management style. Back in the Steve's days, Apple doesn't announce anything immediately and like to hold off all the details until earning calls. Now Mr. Cook just likes to brag on how much sales they got after a weekend. This feels like typical marketing tactic to me. Apple should care more about creating better products for customer, not show off how much sales they got for pre-order.

Yeah pretty dumb. Its like they're 12 year olds. I could just imagine how excited they get everytime they come up with their names lol...

It appeases the Android fans though...you'll often see lame headlines on android forums like "Who wants to taste some Gingerbread?!?!?" and "I can't wait to have some Ice Cream Sandwich Goodness!!!"...lame

Oh yes, because there is nothing lame about your phone being "magical"

My favorite stupid Android name?

Froyo.

Really?

I know it's short for "frozen yogurt" but it sounds too close to "Frodo" and makes me want to take an Android phone and throw it into Mount Doom.

Ohh no he didnt! Burn.......ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Ahh. OK. I hate that they are taking their time in giving me a tracking number :(. It's making me anxious, and I'm acting like a damn child, but I seriously hate this Blackberry.
