Given that most Android phones are BOGO, popular and free are not the same things.

I couldn't agree more. You get what you pay for, and when I see a commercial that says "get this phone powered by Android for free, and get a second one for free!" it makes me think "man, that's complete junk."

yup. and they really cant give them away, nobody wants them

iPhone-flawless user experience, unbeatable ecosystem

android-donkey'ed up os, eff'ed ecosystem, cheap plastic:eek:

:apple: all the way

Wow the 4S did better than the 4?? I knew the 4S would still sell but not as much as the 4.

I think the large volume of sales is due to the # of 3GS people (like me) who COULD NOT upgrade to the 4 when it came out...as well as there now being 3 carriers instead of 1 supporting the iPhone.

I'm so psyched to get my 4S...looking forward to the better pic quality and vid quality.

LOL. Yes Google (android) has a gaggle of garbage out there. Android phones just contribute to land fill pollution.

Here's part of the future land fill:
eBay Android phones: Good return for your investment-not

Android is an OS. Phones are hardware. Let's try to remember the difference?

And I say - it's great people have a choice as to what they can get based on what their personal needs are. Not everyone wants an iPhone. Not everyone wants an Android phone. Some people prefer Blackberries and/or some people (I know it's C-R-A-Z-Y) still prefer dumb phones.

I'd rather the marketplace have something for everyone vs a single platform which is dictated to everyone. The consumer wins when there are choices.

Any more features in this year's iPhone, and the backorder problem would be far worse.

Why make this problem worse, when they can save some new features for the next version, keep costs low and profits high, and distribute iPhone demand more evenly over the product line's lifetime?

But if you continue using a "dumbphone" that makes you a visionless dummy according to iTards.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't announce a larger screen, but as someone with access to the beta, I knew this wasn't going to happen anyway. There are normally hints found in the code before such a thing happens.

Even as an iPhone 4 owner, I am upgrading because they announced the three most important things for me, ranked in order...

1. The CDMA models work on GSM networks when you roam internationally.
2. The camera is 8 Megapixels and has been significantly upgraded.
3. It has the A5 processor.

I can still make $200 back on my iPhone 4, and I will be saving enough money on my monthly plan to more than cover my AT&T ETF in the first year. I won't be upgrading until the iPhone 5S or 6 or whatever it is called.

Let's not forget that the iPhone and iOS are essentially a combined unit. It's not exactly like you get to install alternative OSes on your Android phone, so they're not exactly separate. Breaking things down into singular elements doesn't make an Android based phone any better a device, simply because it might have a larger screen. When you buy the phone, it's a singular complete package.

What is it with you and bashing Apple fans every chance you get? Do you derive pleasure from that? What are you trying to overcompensate for?

Anybody else almost wish it would have done worse than the 4, just so apple knows it has to come back to the table with something completely different next time? It almost give them a free pass to do incremental upgrades as much as they want and still make money. More power to them I guess.

Amazing, simply amazing! This is very impressive to sell a million new phones on launch weekend. Especially when you look at all the competition.

Oh wait I am sure all those who did buy a 4S did look at the competition. ;)

all those who brought the iphone are upgraders get a clue. show me numbers of new users, last a saw iphone only broung in 250 to 300hthousand per new release but that was 3yrs ago what is it now.

The proportion that are upgraders is somewhat irrelevant. 1 million sold is still 1 million sold.

Really all those who bought an iPhone are upgraders? That's pretty awesome that you have inside info like that.

And you just made that up.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he has insider information no-one else has.... that would mean Apple just picked up at least 230,000 new iPhone customers in one day - that would be quite awesome, and wouldn't even take account of continuing 3GS and iPhone4 sales on the same day!

You need to have a registered acct with wikipedia in order to change it...so in other words...these android fans, went to wikipedia, created an account and edited the Apple Inc page just to bash Apple....its reached a whole new level of sadness

I went to the discussion page and gave a point-by-point explanation of what was just rumor and what had no source. They agreed and took down the whole questionable part. I rock. lol
