I can't wait to purchase one! I also agree that the colors are fairly randomized and the lack of pattern is a bit off...
I think it most definitely resembles the (updated) pride flag when flat, albeit in a zig-zag pattern.
I'm LGBT, and I love this band.

Picked up a braided one, looks really cool and very zany. Been wanting to try a braided solo loop.

I really dislike both, which is sad because I wanted to buy a rainbow Apple Watch loop. Hopefully next year’s one will look nicer.
I'm reluctant to agree, but this year I just don't like either of them. I have ones from previous years so in June I'll wear a different one each week. Hopefully next year I'll like their offerings.

Just going to go out and say this, it's not fair that the LGBTQ community claimed a monopoly over the visible color spectrum. Like, what the hell guys? This band actually looks great and I'm trying to stay on brand here.

Every disenfranchised group plays fair and picks a few colors. LGBTQ just throws a fish net over ROYGBIV and selfishly designs all fabulous gear in it. It's not fair! 😂

The "Pride Edition" Braided Solo Loop has a retro 1980's feel to it. It reminds me of United Colors of Benetton and Swatch.

I like it.

I really want to get the Pride Solo Loop but I sweat a lot when I workout. Does anyone know how the braided solo loop holds up with sweat? Will it get gross/ruined?
I've had the same issue with a few of my oldest bands. I think the materials they're using now are a bit more resistant to sweat-induced grossness. I used some oxiclean and a little bit of hydrogen peroxide in warm water to get some of the stains out. Worked well on mine, but it may affect colors on some bands.

I proudly raised the re-designed Pride flag at our house the other day, but I have to confess I'm not a big fan of the bands this year. I'll go with the new watch face and pair it with a Pride band I have from last year.

I find it so hypocritical that gay men treat other gay men terribly most of the year but when Pride rolls round everyone is supposed to be full of support and inclusivity. I spend half my time consoling single gay and lesbian friends who are dumped on by the very people who wear bands and t-shirts all year round. Thank God I’m not single and have a loving partner that feels like I do. Straight, gay or whatever - everyone has the capacity to hate on others even within their own “group” or ‘identity’ regardless of what it is. I don’t go near Pride parades as I find it full of hypocrites! Don’t be gay or straight or bi, pan or anything else - be nice and be respectful to each other!
Sorry, but not being gay isn't an option for me. I tried that to please a lot of people and it just didn't take. What I can be, however, is gay AND kind and respectful and supportive. As can straight or bi or trans people.

Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the braided band I’m a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to the pride flag, the six colored rainbow, the flag I secretly kept in my room when struggling with my sexuality that gave me strength.

Apple usually does a good job with the pride bands, but that braided one Looks like the entire menu at McDonald’s was put into a blender.
I'm pretty sure if you put that whole menu in a blender it would come out one gross color.

I have very similar feelings, but you've done a much better job of articulating them than I could.

I understand your defensiveness, but I suspect the original author was attempting to say that the labels are a distraction - we should all just strive to just be ourselves and to be supportive of others being themselves. It sounds like you are on the right track there!

As a straight man; I've always wondered if I use one of this, am I sending the wrong message? hahaha 🤣

It’s not the wrong message, but yeah, it would make me wonder. I think it’s strange when allies don the pride flag, but it’s definitely better than them donning a white hood!

Still, gays/trans don’t own the exclusive rights to the rainbow… if you like the thing, buy it! But if you feel a tug in the night, don’t wonder why. 😂

That's why I like it. Something different. I don't normally like political statements of any sort, but I might buy this band just because I like how it looks.
Being gay/trans is not supposed to be a political statement. The only reason LGBTQ became political is because people were attacked for it. It’s just a strange concept to me that people still consider gay to be some type of alternative lifestyle choice.

Further muddying the waters, I have a really hard time seeing much authenticity within the LGBTQ community because you never know who is just there for the ride now. Every time some literary dyes their hair purple just to say that “sexuality is a spectrum” and claims they’re queer for the attention, the real voices of the rainbow get drowned out. I can’t stand this “you are who you say you are” nonsense. A white person is not black, and a straight person is not gay. Nor should either want so bad to be the other that they feel the need to trample upon the other’s identity.

Maybe you’ve misunderstood me - I meant the label attached. Whatever you are own it and be kind and respectful. 😃

everything is all about colors. Lots of shinny colors.
Color Watches
Color phones.
Color Imacs.

Like thats really gonna save and propel sales.

APPLE LEADERSHIP has LOST its way.
You’re not wrong. Plenty has become stupid at Apple lately. While M1 itself was the accomplishment, we should care about the progression of the internal components and configurations before gaudy colors.

I appreciate aesthetics, but it’s caved in on itself lately. I overall prefer a more utilitarian society instead of a warped, tightly controlled version of corporate-defined “human freedom” where anyone is what they claim to be. That would be known as a lie.

You’re absolutely not sending the wrong message! If someone seems interested and asks, politely decline and revel in the affirmation that even gay folks find you attractive.

If someone inappropriately touches you without your consent, that’s bad regardless of who does it and is a stereotype that shouldn’t be perpetuated, even in jest.

It’s only as hypocritical as Christmas is. I think what you’re noticing is the inauthenticity of it… kind of goes hand in hand with an oblivious form of hypocrisy. I don’t take this as you griping either… something tangible was lost to the spirit of it, and I think part of that was the actual achievement of gay rights/acceptance in many countries. I especially support Pride in places like Iran. In the U.S., I feel it needs to be centered far more around supporting the globe rather than being narcissistic.

My opinion? Citibank, vodka brands, and corporate suckers took over the Pride movement and tried to turn it into a Pepsi Generation thing. They morphed it into general individualism/“freedom to be you”, which had almost nothing to do with what Pride was about. Pride was about specific people with common struggles.

The people in this photo weren’t there because they were devoid of attention. They were there because they had a real fight to fight. I wish people would form their own fringe movements instead of tacking on another letter onto LGBT and diluting real historical progress with “everyone is free to choose their own color iMac and which Smirnoff flavor to drink” nonsense.
