I just reinstalled Safari 3

I could no longer stand the beta. Especially the refresh button not being where I was used to having it.

But mostly because it was just sooo slow, and wouldn't work with the same sites the older version ran.
I got the beachball/hourglass soo much.

I like the topsites but I wish they could make the transition to viewing the page smoother -- it swoops in nicely but there's a white flash before it goes live.

Also +1 for hotmail problems. I can log in fine, but none of the messages do anything when I click on them. I tried changing the user agent, but no difference for me.

changing the toolbar

I also keep having the problem that when I change the layout of the toolbar, or ADD something like the evernote clipper to it, when I relaunch Safari 4, all my changes are GONE

I downloaded the Windows version onto a window machine i have and it crashed my computer three times so unfortunately i can't use it even though it is super fast

Quick question. This may have been answered previously but I couldn't find it. Am I able to customize or preset my top sites? I don't want it to go by browsing history, I just want to pick some websites to be on my homepage that I can check quickly. Anyone know how to do this? I couldn't figure it out. Thanks a bunch

has there been an update to this beta since it was released?

I remember Safari 3 beta giving me arse ache until they updated it about a week later.... has the current version of this beta been improved on since its release?

cheers guys!

I've been using Safari 4 from the day it was released and I'm not please or displeased. I'm not into the homepage thing and besides that I haven't noticed much difference - including speed.

I haven't had any crashes on the Mac version, but on the Windows version of Safari 4 Beta, I get crashes all the time when I'm using my scroll wheel. I'm not really sure if that's what's causing the problem, but I'll be scrolling down a page and all of a sudden, I get the error popup and it quits.

ahh I don't want to go back to 3 due to looks but performance on 4 is bugging me. I've been using this since release.. sigh. I like the top bar tabs and top sites.. but I miss growl, a lot lol have they fixed that

I went back to 3.2.1 about two weeks ago. I miss a lot in Safari 4, but the performance hit was bugging me too much. I think I'll hop back on Safari 4 after they update it again.

Just thought I'd chime in by saying that I actually forgot 4 was a beta, it is definately slower than 3, but I've yet to have a single crash/bug so far.

Well glad u didn't have any crashes. But mine would just like shut down for no reason sometimes lol. It particularly seemed to have trouble with wikipedia and ebay

Have gone back to S3 as of today. I found the removal of the reload/stop button from the bar to be a terrible move as well as the missing blue progress bar. Both of those features were more user friendly where they were but when was the last time Apple listened to dissenters? The Top Sites feature was stolen from Opera and was somewhat useful but I found it to be a time burden rather than increasing efficiency. It was also not very reliable as to informing when content was updated. The major issue I had with it was that my banking sites did not play well with it at all, nor my work sites. I did get used to the tabs on top—kinda. Anyway, I'm back in 3 and lovin' the speed and being able to get into sites needed for work (I hate having to use multiple browsers to get the job done). Try, try again Apple.
