I continue to use my iPad1 as I work in secure areas that deny access to devices with cameras (so there's no point in me getting a newer iPad).

I'm not picking on you, since you're not the first to say it, but I don't get why this is such a big deal. Surely you could put a highly visible sticker over the lenses, or if that's not permanent enough a drop of paint. Any organization that doesn't recognize that a camera that is not functional because the lens is obscured is no threat is not acting reasonably.

I want to be able to turn on/off bluetooth and wifi in the notification bar like android. . . that would be nice

it's already the 19th here in Sydney

The interesting thing is that the Apple NZ site, which has been completely localised with NZD pricing, local operators, and even British spelling, says "iOS 6 software will be available on Wednesday, 19 September as a free software update."

So, 11 hours to go at the latest... :D

It really would make more sense to provide the update at midnight so that the diehards get it while the normals sleep. Less demand on the servers all at once.

But I'm sure the smart people at Apple thought of this and have a good reason for not doing it.

When does Apple usually launch iOS updates? What is the general consensus regarding the iOS 6 launch time?

What I'd like to see is the ability to mute group texts or opt out of group texts. I get group texts from friends who then start chiming in nonstop and sometimes I'm with clients and just want to be able to mute just that conversation.

Second I'd like to see when I share a contact to be able to only send select information. People don't need a friends gate code that I might have added to memo section or birthday when I'm sharing the info bc my friend happens to be a good mortgage broker and another friend needs a mortgage.

These seem like easy fixes for them to add but I doubt they will.

Strange how they don't release it on the 19th at each time zone as it comes around, which would help the same issue's we have EVERY IOS update, the servers sloooow down, become non-responsive, stacks of forums get filled with comments about not being able to download. If it gets released 19th in each time zone at midnight, I would suspect this would be the best way to stagger downloads.
Check again tomoz.

+1 on that, it's nearly lunchtime here in the uk, I was hoping to d/l it during the day before it gets silly...

Can anyone on the GM (actual Dev) advise if I were to restore my iPhone, from the phone itself, would it pick up the GM on restore or the official release from Apple?

Thanks.

Yes, this is an excellent idea - it would certainly help with server load. I like it!
