Wondering whether you have to register your  Watch or whether you can just install the updates when your iPhone gets the iOS 9 Beta. I haven't heard of anyone registering their watch for beta updates before.

It's a bit different, you need to download iOS 9 and then install a managed profile to your phone which feeds in the update file.

I'm guessing they're nervous about supplying the actual binaries to people.

I've managed to get the profile but can't get iOS 9 at the moment.

I'm ridiculously excited about standalone apps though. I've been sitting on a tonne of ideas for the better part of 6 months.

Is the profile on the dev portal? I haven't been able to get iOS 9 yet, refreshing my phone furiously at the moment :)

I was hoping for sleep tracking features. Given how great the battery life is, they could add simple features at least. Hopefully they'll announce more in September

The problem, of course, is that the Watch has so little storage there won't be a lot of data (or apps) that can be stored on it. I assume the Watch's second physical version will solve some of that.

Watch has 8 gbs of storage though?

The App Store already has Third-Party Complications. Some of the most common are "duplicate features of stock apps", accessing unapproved API's, and bypassing in-app-purchases.

Nope, the downloads just keep re-directing to 'manage your Apple ID' only thing I've managed to download is El Capitan.

Is that up? I only have an iOS dev account.. Ill have to get the Preview off a friend.

Same here, my Mac Developer membership expired about 2 years ago but I can still download OS X releases, are you sure you can't do the same by going to resources, OS X and then download? It gave me a redemption code which I used in conjunction with my Apple Dev ID in the MAS.

I'll be installing this on my watch tonight!

An interesting question is how will running Betas on the Watch work? I'm guessing you'll need to run iOS 9 on your phone as well? Either way, I don't think it will be that great until third party apps take advantage of it.

That's what usually happens, they release the actual thing later after they have ironed out bugs and given the devs a chance.. It's happened with OS X and iOS for ages now.. Thought you'd be used to it.

What is this actual thing you’re referring to? What you guys do not seem to understand is that hardware and software development and innovation is a continuous project and refinement. Just because we can dream up what the perfect apple watch can be doesn’t mean it can be made with current technology without trade offs and compromises. Apple has always tried to delivered a balanced product with available resources. Products takes time to mature and get to where it needs to be.

Yes I share the same excitement. only thing left to complete this is more first party watch bands from Apple themselves. More colors, styles and leather bands! I’d love to have an olive green, red or burnt orange leather band with stainless steel buckle hardware.

Aaah yes, absolutely!. I want more bands. I will patiently wait for another month before venturing on Amazon. The stuff on sale now seems iffy though I may not have searched hard enough.

I found this guy's jokes really weird, it felt often that he was laughing at the team that created the first version for doing such a ****** job like 'incredible now I can actually draw with more than one color' with a sarcastic tone.

As a developer I know the genre of humor, but that's not what you should share outside of the team.

The presentation left me as uninterested as before as a dev and a customer.

This actual thing is watchOS 2.0, it will not be released to the general public until the Fall, which has happened with every iOS and OS X version for a long time. I understand it takes time, I am arguing in the same direction as you. I would know as a CS+EEE student.

Boy that name takes me back!

I can't wait for this. Watch apps are frustratingly slow since they have to pull from the iPhone. Native apps should go a long way to making things snappier.
