Great. Now maybe they can release a Java 1.6 that real people can actually get a hold of and use (so those that have written 1.6 code can actually sell it...

Hmmmm. Novel idea.

I was wondering about the differnce between WWDC and Macworld.

Can any regular person attend WWDC? Or is it only for developers? And how about macworld? Do you have to pay or something to attend? If so, how much?

Exiting!!!
i was there last year, WWDC 2007 and it was really really fun and great to bea part. I cancelled my trip to India to attend that meeting, and the reason behind that is i got that ticket for free from APPLE. I was lucky by then...
but now I am missing it... I cant wait to see what they are coming up with, this year.....
Lets all wait and see.......

It's gotta be 3G. Two bridges equals more bandwidth.

what i think is that apple think 1 bridge aint gonna be enough for all the developers that are gonna wanna develop for the iphone and the mac.
so they're saying, we would help u to get through to the same place, that would be the app or whatever finished.
did that make sense...lol!!!
;)

Since you were there maybe you could answer a few questions:
1. Didn't they release the MBP last July at WWDC?
2. What other hardware and software did they release?
3. Gracias.

I think the two Golden Gate Bridges are a visual metaphor for "I should've stopped at the 19th shot of Petron! DAMN! Now I'm seeing two of everything!"

1) Should have been released the week before WWDC. Which was June not July.
2) None. Just showed the "new" features of Leopard which wasn't that great. The game companies got on stage and showed off what they will offer for the Mac. iPhone was a little over 2 weeks away at the time.

Xcode for Windows

This occurred to me a short while ago. The caption "A landmark event. In more ways than one." could be talking about the "touch platform" and Xcode for Windows. I am not talking about a full-blown version that can be used to create Mac applications but one that is tailored specifically for creating applications using the "touch platform".

what if?

I'm thinking that this must be something quite big. I'm thinking that apple just might drop the bomb and say this: The Iphone and Ipod Touch are gong to be our entry into the Video Game industry, and that that's why we released an SDK. In fact, our platform unlike any other can run PC like games with no peoblem. Just to show you, heres a demo: they show something like Command and Conquer, with all the graphics turned up.
They then announce that they can upgrade your battery for a price.

Anyone know if they are going to bring back Apple Campus bash this year or are they going to hold the party at Yerba Buena again?

So is it really just going to be a stupid software confrence!?!?!
Because I badly want a new MBP!!!!!!!!!!!!! it would be the perfect time too!:(

I am seriously in awe of some of these posts predicting off-the-wall announcements at WWDC. Especially the Apple buying Microsoft. Are you kidding me? Apple does everything it possibly can to differentiate itself from Microsoft; Apple would never buy Microsoft unless it planned to dissolve it. Period.

Apple is the anti-Microsoft.

Got to page 6, that was all I could take. I only saw 1 person that thought what i thought regarding this "landmark event." Eveyone seems focused on the iPhone and a 3g iPhone, I dont see this as a "landmark event", just an upgrade of whats out there. Or a GPS iPhone, thats hardly 'landmark' in my book.

The other poster said "OSX no longer restricted to Apple computer." I think thats a real possibility. Poo-poo it all you want, but Apple had really gained alot of momentum, and this would make further in-roads.

Obviously this is just my opinion. Alot of ppl have said "OSX will never.." But then again, wasnt it said that Windows would never run on a Mac?

Then one other person pointed out something that seems pretty obvious. The placement of the bridges makes for the number 11, as in OS XI/OS11. Certainly that would be big news, but still doesnt explain the 2 divergent paths.

Leopard 10.5.3

Hey, Does anyone know when the next leopard 10.5.3 update is coming out? is it going to be at the WWDC? I really want to know!!!!!

New MBP's were released a couple weeks ago. Take a look on the Apple store. There will be no MBP news at the "stupid software conference" as you put it.

Most likely not for another 2 or 3 months. 10.5.2 is fairly new and solved many problems people were having with Leopard. There haven't been many reported issues with 10.5.2 to make them bring out another update so quickly.
