what about the MB? and what about the reports of new notebooks in june?

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/443065/

I really doubt that too. The only hardware announcement I can remember being directly tied to WWDC was for the Mac Pro. And I think that was just because the Mac Pro is the system designed for developers and digital professionals. I think any new products will be announced before or after WWDC but not during.

what would you say?

What would you say if Apple some how managed to bridge the gap between PCs and Macs via a perfect implementation of WINE? What if... and that's why the bridges were coming together.....

Northbridge, Southbridge...

I think the conjoined Golden Gates represent the dual pathways of OSX - same architectural design, divergent but parallel software platform development. Two information highways bridging the information and communications gap.

That said, I can't help thinking every time I see them: Northbridge, Southbridge. :)

Then one other person pointed out something that seems pretty obvious. The placement of the bridges makes for the number 11, as in OS XI/OS11. Certainly that would be big news, but still doesnt explain the 2 divergent paths.

At first, I read the bridges as divergent (reading left-to-right). Now, I'm thinking more convergent, as what comes out of this conference will be of landmark significance going forward and "outward". Maybe OSXI will be an OS for all Apple devices, period. That would be my request at the weekly Pony Meeting.

64 GB iPhone??

When are they gonna make an iPhone which can really function as a cool ipod with at least 64 GB of space for my extensive library of music? I wouldnt want to have to carry my ipod and my iPhone around all the time....would like to have it all on 1 device.

That is the 64 gigabyte question.

You can, right now. All you have to do is be creative with playlists in iTunes and live with 16GB.

I have a huge huge amount of music but manage to get by with 8GB. With some video as well 16GB would be fine.

That is very sensible advice. But soon there will be a 32 gig iPhone and a 64 gig iPT. Just the nature of the biz.

Of course they will. I'll buy one then too. Until then I'll use this amazing iPhone and 'get by' with 8GB. I'd love to see a hardware rev. but I don't think we'll see that for 6 months.

I am hoping for the end of June for the 2nd gen based on what I've read. That's still more than 3 months away though. And again, I would be using an 8GB (or 16 GB) now if I wasn't still beholden to my contract with t-mobile.

64 gig iphone

Ok so the next step is 32 gigs for the iPhone ...what is the current largest size solid state HDD? is it 64GB? if so...apple should skip the 32 bull and go for the next big thing...charge a hundred more...people will buy it.
just my thoughts.

Do you know how much the premium is for the Macbook Air to have a 64GB SSD?

Not quite the same tech but it's a clue as to why the above will take longer than you think.

Not for the iphone but still amazing ... oh, and if you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it ;) [translation: how much is this going to cost?!!]

"We expected to see escalating solid state drive capacities at the Big Show (you know, in the 128GB to 256GB range), but nothing like the insane amount of storage that BitMicro announced: a whopping 832GB SSD.

Yes, you’ve read that correctly 832GB, which would make the E-Disk Altima E2A3GM drive the largest capacity SSD in a 2.5-inch form factor. So how will this insane level of storage be achieved? The E-Disk Altima E2A3GM utilizes multi-level cell NAND flash, that enables BitMicro to pack in twice the number of bits per memory cell. In addition, the drive is hot pluggable and maintains a swift 100 Mbps data transfer rate. BitMicro claims that it will begin shipping these 832GB monsters in volume in Q3, as well in various other capacities starting at 32GB."

ya how much is that going to cost? ;) but seriously how reasonable will bigger SSDs become in the near future?

It was posted on MR (and reported on other sites as well) that the cost of SSD's will be halved every 12 months, while their capacity will be doubled during that time. This is just what I read but maybe a tech/financial poster on this thread can shed more light on this.

How come nothing has been announced for students? No student scholarships this year? I don't even see where students can buy tickets.

I would like the answer to this as well...
I have a ADC Student account and haven't found any WWDC Student Offer.

The answer is clear . . .

Everything Mac. Everything iPhone.

All evidence points to a G3 iphone being released - hence "Everything iPhone."

Apple will also introduce a new computer model called the "Mac" - hence "Everything Mac." This will not be a mini or pro but rather a headless iMac with some expansion capabilities, but not as much as the MP. The much anticipated "mythical midrange mac".

Why?
• Because I really, really want one (yes, ha ha). For my needs the MP is overkill, the mini is a joke, the imac has no expansion and I would have to mix it's glossy screen with a 2nd matte screen.

• Apple want to move into the business sector. Example - forthcoming enterprise applications for the iphone.

• Apple has a hole in it's lineup. The $2200 single processor MP is a stopgap until the "Mac" arrives. Apple usually likes to have 3 models/speeds/sizes to any one lineup for simplicity and currently they have 4 for the MP. Also the MP has gotten more expensive and more upscale (and will continue to do so) as time goes by. Seems like the with the jump to dual processors the cost has skyrocketed. Six years ago it seems like I got a fairly well appointed G4 tower for $2400 - 2600 - today it would be $3400 for the Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core MP with some additions.

• Apple has released hardware at previous WWDC:
WWDC 1998 - imac
WWDC 2003 - Power Mac G5 and iSight camera
WWDC 2004 - Redesigned flat-panel Cinema Displays
WWDC 2006 - Mac Pro

Keeping my fingers crossed . . .

its obvious. they are probably going to combine the macbook air with the macbook pro. it would be terrific. An extremely thin macbook that actually contains all the needed parts.
