The reflection reads MMXIII and stands for 2013 in Roman... I don't get what all the fuzz is about.

Just asked Jim Dalrymple whether he thinks the logo is referring to an iWatch (due to roman numerals, shapes and colours) or something much subtler like a UI redesign. “@jdalrymple: @StellarSoul2001 I think UI, but who knows :)”.

I personally think it could be either or both. Guess I'll weigh in with my thoughts and predictions from most to least likely. Just based on the logo.

1) UI redesign across iOS and possibly OSX. New system wide font, flatter graphics and logos, a lot more simplicity and colour. Some subtle system animations.

2) Stacked app icon graphic refers to headless apps. Sandboxing as we have come to know it will be a thing of the past as inter app communication is given much more priority.

3) The iWatch! In all seriousness. To me the square iPod nano was a not so subtle iWatch test product. Clearly the public responded with a lot of demand. It's shape is still remarkable and beautiful. I think Apple will refine it slightly to be thinner and more minimalistic. The shapes on the logo are like apps yes, but why the multiple colours? To me, colours/shapes and roman numerals means iWatch.

I don't think the iWatch will be announced at the WWDC, but I do think it is coming. Notice Gruber says the following in reply to Cook's comments after the conference call:

Cook said:
We will continue to focus on the long term, and we remain very optimistic about our future. We’re participating in large and growing markets. We see great opportunities in front of us, particularly given the long-term prospects of the smartphone and tablet markets, the strength of our incredible ecosystem which we plan to continue to augment with services, our plans for expanded distribution, and the potential of exciting new product categories.

Gruber said:
Tablets, phones, and computers are “product categories”, in Apple parlance. So he’s not talking about a new iPad or iPhone, he’s talking about an entirely new leg on the stool.

Now, think about that for a moment. Augment with services probably means more iCloud stuff or something like a streaming radio service. As for exciting new product categories, and Gruber's emphasis on entire new leg on the stool, notice even the Apple TV is already one leg on the current stool, even though it is a "hobby". So if its not a phone, tablet, new desktop/laptop, or as I'm suggesting an Apple TV, that pretty much means an iWatch or iBand of some sort, unless anyone have other novel ideas.

I think it's more the presence of the Roman numerals themselves. And where would one be most likely to see Roman numerals on a typical day? On the face of a watch, perhaps?

The rounded squares (no rounded corners jokes, please) vaguely resemble the appearance of a watch crystal.

Of course, this is all speculation, but there are multiple indicators that Apple is working on an iWatch (actually, the name sounds slightly creepy, come to think of it). I might go as far as to suggest that the iWatch will be announced at WWDC, with a beta SDK, an emulator, and a 3-4 month window for developers to adapt their apps prior to the iWatch hitting the market.

OTOH, Apple could merely be suggesting a new appearance (and perhaps functionality) for icons in iOS 7.

The number at the bottom of the logo can only mean one thing. Apple is skipping OS XI and XII and going straight to XIII.

That will show people who say that Apple needs to innovate more!

That's almost as unpredictable as when they called the iPad 3 "the New iPad" That aughta knock some people off their feet! :p

WWDC keynote runs for 2hrs. 30min spent talking about their success and expension and perhaps new hardware. Then 1.5hrs to announce both iOS 7 and the next OS X version. That isn't much time at all. I'm not sure if I should be expecting much this keynote or not.

Also no way will a new high end iphone be announced here. Perhaps lower end multi coloured iPhones yes but the one we've all been waiting for will only come in September once iOS 7 comes out of beta.

After all this speculation we have to remember to go back after the event and say "oh, THAT's what it meant" :)

Imagine what would happen if Apple released everything realistically coming down the pipe all at once:
1. Haswell Macbooks
2. A new Mac Pro
3. Preview for OS XI or next OS X update
4. Preview/release iOS7 w/ Ive redesign
5. App Store for Apple TV
6. Preview of iWork 2014, Aperture 4, & iLife 2014
7. resdesigned iPads/retina minis

The internet would pretty much explode.

One can dream.....
while I am at it splitting itunes into a media app and a sync app would be great as well. Ok, back to real life now

And after..be disappointed.
I'm keeping my expectations really low.
I'd love to see a new Mac Pro or a Retina Quad Core Air
or a 13" Retina with a real Gpu...not to mention I.Tv or I.Watch..
but it won't happen....quite for sure i fear.
So i prefer to wait for :
Ios 7 preview
Osx 10.9 preview
Haswell Laptops
and to see Ipad 5,Iphone 5s/6,Ipad Retina Mini with A6^^ next Fall only.

Who thinks Apple is going to announce a phone at WWDC.

New iPhones have been announced at WWDC in the past so it's not implausible t say the new iPhone could be announced at WWC this year. Sure the main focus is software, API's and software development at the WWDC's but hardware has been mentioned in the past at the keynotes. And could be this year too.

I have a good friend who lives in Cupertino and both of us have been looking forward to the new Mac Pro for a LONG time (well before the disaster of an upgrade last year). To say that we're looking forward to it would be a great understatement.

It's probably about 7am there right now, so I decided to send him this text along with the attached image:

DUDE, look at the WWDC logo!!! What do you see in there??? www.apple.com/macpro

Image

LOL, he bought it, hook, line, and sinker. In all fairness, we'll probably see an announcement for it anyway at WWDC, but hell...I couldn't resist.

Is this this kind of result realized with?Saturation?Or just a P.Shop artwork?
By way it could be a "cube modular Mac Pro"
MMXIII reflection could mean one module above the other and
M M stand for Mac Modular...with 13 just to suggest the year ..
also the DC kept my attention the D is below the C...maybe means a sort
of linking between the modules or the fact ,as Tim talk'd about the ecosystem Apple has,
the Ios and Osx will be closer than ever starting by this year
..but..i'm keeping my expectations low...

Tim Cook specifically mentioned hardware announcements "this Fall" in the earnings call. So I think that is a subtle hint that we shouldn't expect big hardware announcements. They always try to manage our expectations with hints like these.

Slightly updated Haswell editions of MacBooks and maybe a new Mac Pro is plausible.

And of course design improvements for iOS 7 with new lock screen features, overlaid replies for messages and a better notification center. Low hanging fruit for iOS at this point, I think. Probably some SDK improvements for inter app communication as well.
We won't see Athentec technology until the Fall announcement of iPhone 5S, even though it probably is a big part of iOS 7.

OS X 10.9 "Lynx" will of course be shown off as well. And we'll get the developer preview. Maps and more Siri functionality are sure bets. Other than that I think an improved iCloud-enabled Finder is on the roadmap. Apple bought some patents related to this earlier this year.

can some1 enlighten me....

Since apple will release WWDC video after the event, whats the point for developers to pay so much to go for the event?

Being able to get hands on, ask questions and network with other devs is massive.

Considering this is a developers conference, anyone expecting the 'Apple TV', iWatch or a new iPhone to be announced is living in Cloud 9. It's entirely possible that the MacBooks will be updated, but they will likely have silent upgrades on the website rather than a stage announcement.

The talk will all be about iOS and OS X - if one is going to undergo dramatic changes, then the other will need to follow suit.

I am pretty sure there won't be any iPhone unveiling. iOS yes, iPhone No.
Don't be delusional.

So....are rounded corners "flat"? Most concepts I've seen of a flatter iOS design remove the rounded corners ala Windows 8.

Why do you 'fear'? This is a DEVELOPER'S CONFERENCE. New hardware is rarely announced. Sometimes it is, but it's not the norm. This is basically a SOFTWARE conference. Keep your expectations in check and you won't be disappointed if there is no hardware, only surprised if there IS.

The Mac Pro is a long time coming, and since DEVELOPERS want Mac Pros more than regular folk, I would bet highly on that announcement over others - if I had to bet on hardware showing up.

Take a closer look at that poster. It's suggesting that instead of neat grid of icons on the Home screen it will be one huge untidy stack of icons. New. Different. Innovative.

LOL...You seriously gathered that from the image? If I play along, why wouldn't that show a new view of folders?

Time to buy Apple stock! ...

Apple has a WWDC link up on apple.com

Of course Wall Street will still be disappointed because no new gadgets will be announced.

The reason AAPL has tanked and plateaued is because there is not much more money to be made in it. The amount of money it would take to buy enough shares vs the amount the stock price would have to raise to make any money is ridiculous. All Wall Street is concerned with is can they make any money. Products have nothing to do with it sadly. Anyone who invested a significant amount of cash in AAPL before it took off is now getting dividend checks. I'd say it's a slow-growth stock for current investors from here on out. The time to buy for first-timers is LONG gone.

Of course other posters have pointed out that I'm a complete dumbass when it comes this stuff, so anyone feel free to put me on a bus to smackdown town.
