I wonder is the reflection "MM XII" relates to something... Not sure what product has a 13th version though. Of course it is just a date but a strong reflection like that suggests something to me...

... Multi-Media?

Darwin is at 12.4.0
The next major version would be 13.0

If this wild theory is correct it would be a drastic change to the kernel.

Maybe it's "Media Mac" or "Mac Media" a new name for the new Mac Pro.

You guys are erm joking right? the MM is a graphic design pun...in case you didn't read the rest of the thread or have never been exposing to any sort of historical fact..there are these things called Roman numerals....the romans invented them...and the weird thing is...

WW looks exactly like MM in a mirror...and MM is 2000 in that system.. add the others together and you get 2013...it's visual punnery.

Roll on the next 8 weeks i say.

Just asked Jim Dalrymple whether he thinks the logo is referring to an iWatch (due to roman numerals, shapes and colours) or something much subtler like a UI redesign. “@jdalrymple: @StellarSoul2001 I think UI, but who knows :)”.

I personally think it could be either or both. Guess I'll weigh in with my thoughts and predictions from most to least likely. Just based on the logo.

1) UI redesign across iOS and possibly OSX. New system wide font, flatter graphics and logos, a lot more simplicity and colour. Some subtle system animations.

2) Stacked app icon graphic refers to headless apps. Sandboxing as we have come to know it will be a thing of the past as inter app communication is given much more priority.

3) The iWatch! In all seriousness. To me the square iPod nano was a not so subtle iWatch test product. Clearly the public responded with a lot of demand. It's shape is still remarkable and beautiful. I think Apple will refine it slightly to be thinner and more minimalistic. The shapes on the logo are like apps yes, but why the multiple colours? To me, colours/shapes and roman numerals means iWatch.

Don't bust the folks bubble. It's the only news out of Apple for months. Let them enjoy their ride to the top of the roller coaster because it will go down eventually.

;)

Yes, the logo is Helvetica Neue UltraLight.

Although Helvetica Neue was introduced in iOS 5, and was also in Leopard, I'm wondering if this is a deliberate steer away from Myriad to distinguish Apple from MS's increasing use of Segoe, as they're both closely modelled on Frutiger.

Maybe Yahoo Weather is correctly predicting the future of the iOS interface.

What do you all think?

how about a focus on flat color over shadowy fluff. Use of roman numerals could be to suggest getting back to a classic form. like the pre Mac OS UI so that also fits.

The lighter weight font could be a reference to the idea of a lighter iOS if not also OS. A big deal has been made about how Surface loses as much as half the drive space to all the built in software. Perhaps losing all the fluff with the pointless shadows, paper tears etc will also lose some fat in terms of software size. Then some new APIs etc could cut some more etc. Perhaps even some new tricks to eliminate ways that the system goes all wonky and screwy. Even perhaps ways to clean up that kind of crap without having to restore whole dang system.

Not so sure it would make much sense to introduce a store for the current Apple TV as they would want that to be a killer feature for 'THE' Apple TV set.

You assume there is a THE Apple TV. perhaps there isn't. perhaps the little box is all they are ever planning to do. With perhaps HDMI added to their Cinema Display a larger size or two model.

Imagine what would happen if Apple released everything realistically coming down the pipe all at once:
1. Haswell Macbooks
2. A new Mac Pro
3. Preview for OS XI or next OS X update
4. Preview/release iOS7 w/ Ive redesign
5. App Store for Apple TV
6. Preview of iWork 2014, Aperture 4, & iLife 2014
7. resdesigned iPads/retina minis

The internet would pretty much explode.

One can dream.....
while I am at it splitting itunes into a media app and a sync app would be great as well. Ok, back to real life now

tim cook: "thank you, thank you...today we like to introduce the new iphone with color (audience whoos)...yes yes..i know..isn't it amazing...with 8 hour life battery...neh... we got 3 hour life battery..isn't it amazing?"

i hope they got something better.

Who thinks Apple is going to announce a phone at WWDC.

Even Apple has to hype things now. Plus I think Apple wants to make this year fairer for everyone. They're selling tickets tomorrow which is unusual.

I mean they've pretty much been a disappointment to everyone because they haven't been doing anything.

Now that they're doing something, everyone is going to like them ago.
Really? You speak for everyone? You don't speak for me. :)

Anyway didn't Apple sell out in 2 hours last year? And wasn't it a bit of a cluster**** because they went on sale early in the morning east cost time so west coasters got screwed? I'm guessing they're trying to alleviate what happened last year.

There would still be a large group of people screaming how disappointing it was and that Apple is dead without Steve

MacBook Pro with retina

Sure, I care about OX 10.9 and iOS 7b but what I'm really on the edge of my seat for is the next generation 15" MacBook Pro with retina

All I see, is an Apple TV in the middle.
