Looking at this graphic, it's like looking at Campus 2 Saucer with Apple lights on. Be cool if they could light it up at night in that manner.

I think they can… they just had to wait until they made the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture available again.

You've said this multiple times before. What stability and performance issues are you having with iOS 16?
That is like asking what are the "stability and performance" issues with a common nail.

It is not necessarily a problem with the most common features of iOS that teenagers use daily, but the underlaying technology like BlueTooth, Xcode, ICould, poorly or non documented public APIs, Networking, WiFi, release quality, etc. The list goes on forever if you actually use Apple's software.

Then let's not mention the stupid exclusion of features that should be present but are not. Why are features not present? Because your average teenager does not need them.

Fully remote even if Covid isn’t an issue? It’s like apple looked at the situation and decided doing things remote might actually be better.

I think it is more likely that Apple does not want to face all of the questions they normally get even when they limit the attendance to only fans.

I hope Apple dedicates some time to squishing bugs. And hopefully Stage Manager 2.0 is a much better iteration, because I don't use version 1 on the Mac. On the iPad, I've come to learn to tolerate it, it's much better than previous GUI option, but still in need of some updates, like free-form window management, etc.

You’re likely right. I was just being snarky because Apple’s been hard lining the work-from-home policy. It’s hardly an Apple-specific thing, but they’re one of many companies who seem to refuse to fully acknowledge that remote work is just as good and possibly better than being in the office.

I digress. I’m not here to threadjack. As you were. 😇

Let the over interpretation begin! That graphic looks like a fresnel lens, though - right?

mmmmm *adjusts glasses* based on my PhD in Apple Marketing, I deduce this symbolizes the shape of Fresnel Lenses which will be in use for the upcoming VR headset... mmmmyes, of course.

The Apple VR headset is said to use pancake lens, not fresnel. While significantly more expensive, pancake offer better optics and allow for a thinner and lighter headset.

I am suspecting there won't be AR/VR headset to show at this event. After the recent leaked concerns, I think Apple likely is pulling back on the project and just keeping this WWDC traditional. If they were planning to preview it, there would be more plans for in person attendance. Especially for a company thats gung-ho about going back into the office.

If Apple actually focuses on a AR/VR headset at their annual developer conference I'm going to be tremendously disappointed.

I believe it will be announced because WWDC makes the most sense to announce it as it will have its own OS and WWDC is when Apple discusses OSes.

There will most-likely be a hands-on demo area for on-hand media and Apple will almost certainly do hands-on for other media in Cupertino and New York like previous hardware releases.

but even with the COVID-19 pandemic over
The Covid death rate is nearly identical to a year ago and has remained static since then:

2,060 deaths in the US last week due to Covid.

The public health emergency has not ended and the death rate shows no signs of abating.

There is no reason to say the pandemic is over now if there wasn't a reason to say it a year ago as the death rate is the same.
