it kinda makes me wonder why they have so many OSs. It looks like the Scully years, except in software.

"One OS to run them all" would be massively bloated and likely offer significantly more vectors for malware and security breaches, so I am comfortable with each Apple product family having it's own custom OS.

And I am happy Apple continues to offer security updates for older hardware than can only run older versions of each family's OS.

Another take! 👀

I hate this pre recorded nonsense with thousand different presenters
I don’t watch them anymore.
Usually most of what is coming is known before the event. The rest is up on various sites that covers Apple stuff super fast anyway.
I’ve seen these hyped events enough. There’s better things to do.

We’ll host a special all-day experience at Apple Park to kick off an incredible week of online sessions, labs, and activities. Join us in person to watch the keynote and State of the Union videos together, meet some of the teams at Apple, celebrate great apps at the Apple Design Awards ceremony, and enjoy activities into the evening.
Looks like the main public announcement is akin to a full media presentation for accuracy, time usage, and conveying all the facts without forgetting something. Hard to top that even if it lacks the older 1 on 1 magic they used to have before Covid 19. People here locally still mostly wear masks when shopping as of March 29th.

I am suspecting there won't be AR/VR headset to show at this event. After the recent leaked concerns, I think Apple likely is pulling back on the project and just keeping this WWDC traditional. If they were planning to preview it, there would be more plans for in person attendance. Especially for a company thats gung-ho about going back into the office.
I agree with you 100%. I cannot wait for the event.

I watch the Keynote, but the real news for what Apple is up to comes from the State of the Union and then the smaller sessions.

Nobody on tech “journalism” actually covers those though, which is why half of Apple reporting on how X feature works is complete ********.

But it looks like when one has a problem they all have a problem. This was like the third notice of this kind this year where it seemed like all of their stuff was affected. I wish they would at least say if older versions of stuff were at risk, even if they don't fix them. That would be handy to know (running Catalina on most stuff, because their hardware is now too expensive).

Tim cook has the personality and charm of a wet blanket.... does anyone actually get excited to see him?

Only because he saves the best announcements for himself.

And lets other people tell the crowd that the monitor stand costs a thousand bucks.

I'm kind of sad they're not doing live events anymore, even now that the covid emergency has passed. Seems the pandemic really did make permanent changes to the way we do certain things. :(

I like most of the polish of the recorded presentations, but miss the more exciting live shows. But what's more important is what they're announcing and no, you won't exactly know in advance.

All I want is the dang volume indicator moved to the SIDE of the screen on macOS! Wasn't that supposed to have already happened?
Blasphemy!

But seriously what is wrong with the current design. Everything on mac doesn't need to use a UI that was optimized for mobile phones.

Do you think there will still be an event in April? I hope so, and I hope they return to the live event. Given that WWDC is digital, I now wonder if Apple will tease the XR product.
I have a feeling MacBook Air 💻 15” Model will be announced in April via press release. WWDC 2023 will strictly be focused on Apple’s AR/VR headset.
