Mercer family spy and psy-op based app? No thanks. Anyone on the left or right that values free speech should stay far away from this honeypot.

This whole call for a voter ID is just a tool being used to suppress the constitutional rights of the poor and minorities.

Can you please articulate how? Be specific. Obtaining a government issued ID is simple. How is anyone supposed to be sure you are who you claim to be without some form of identification?

Without ID how is anyone to know you aren't your parent who passed away 6 months ago?

We all agree that US Citizens have the constitutional right to vote and I want every single one of them to do so but I want to know they are a citizen and that they only vote once.

No, it is just plain racist.
Are opening a bank account, buying a car, borrowing a book, getting utilities connected, cashing a paycheck, purchasing a home, buying liquor, getting a firearm, renting a car, getting a fishing permit, and hundreds of other things all racist too

or are you implying that Blacks are too stupid to do any of the above, because they all require a photo ID?

There is ONLY one reason to not require an ID to vote; and that is to cheat.
You need an ID to get into the DNC, for some crazy reason

Exactly

Ha, we agree wholeheartedly!
My response was to the IDEA that that requiring an ID is racist - it’s racist in and of itself. Minorities don’t have and can’t get an ID? What is the basis of this thinking? Answer: racism

Polls show the majority of minorities support voter ID because they too want integrity and faith in the democratic process.

It’s only morons that bundle people into groups and assume they all think alike that want to come and “rescue” them.

None of those things listed are constitutional rights. Voting is. That's the difference. This whole call for a voter ID is just a tool being used to suppress the constitutional rights of the poor and minorities.
At least a couple of us are still waiting for you to articulate how voter ID is racist.

It’s a pretty disgusting thing to throw around so haphazardly. True racists should in fact be pariahs. Instead that language is used as a political tool to control people and worse, shape public policy. It does a terrible disservice to the very people you think you’re protecting. It’s time to wake up, grow up, and think for ourselves and with our brains instead of rolling along with the feels.

All Social Media is a toilet, but Parler is a Husky truck stop toilet in Arizona, on a hot, hot day in August.

(Apologies in advance if I offended any Husky truck stop employees or their legal representatives.)

Views != Facts

We need to stop the proliferation of misinformation and this idea that everybody is entitled to their own facts.

Like the recent technical director at CNN caught openly admitting to lies and fabrication? Or is that considered a factual source?

"this idea that everybody is entitled to their own facts" there's a little thing called the First Amendment that entitles people to say almost anything they want (bar inciting violence, unless you are a Democrat like Maxine Waters then I guess you don't get censored or arrested for inciting violence). I suggest if you prefer censorship there's a large number of countries that would suite you better.

I've lived in countries with frightening levels of censorship, I've lived in countries with rapidly increasing levels of censorship. I much much much prefer to live in a country where my free speech is enshrined in law. If that means dealing with misinformation then so be it.

I'm sick and tired of this idea that misinformation is somehow the gravest of threats when censorship - say, censoring the president of a world super power - is far more sinister and dangerous. Twitter is an absolute cesspool of far left propaganda and lies, but I don't believe they should be banned. I'm not even 30 years old yet, I served in the military, I actually faced real threats and violence in my life to defend Western liberal values like free speech and democracy, yet I have to somehow defend free speech in a country I'm not even a citizen of yet from people who have absolutely no idea how good they have it and have never had to fight to defend anything in their comfortable easy lives.

The ideological cancer of identity politics and mass censorship in the United States is strongly having me reconsider if I should move my family back to Europe.

It's also lots and lots and lost of people that volunteer. We have the largest all volunteer military in the world. We have not had a draft since the Vietnam war and we have been in conflicts since and not needed a draft.
Amazing how he came up with all that. I come from a pretty rich family, I served in one of the most elite military units on the planet and not as an officer before getting degrees in EEE and math. Something I wanted to do my whole life being raised to be proud of my country and with the things my grandfathers did in the wars. This goes to show this post is from someone who simply hasn't the faintest idea. Funny how I didn't meet a single left wing voter in my entire time in the military, really makes you think.

The worst thing this guy has faced is when Starbucks ran out of skimmed milk for his double pump caramel vanilla latte.

Diversity in app store is good. Apple shouldn't block apps based on ideology (nor have they in the past).

However, a social network that caters to and provide an echo chamber of a single ideology is not diversity.
I guess that means Twitter is in trouble.

I was on Parler and now I'm on Gab. Gab doesn't censor any left wing speech, there's actually diversity of opinion on Gab. Unlike Twitter which has just become a far left cesspool.

I live in the US but I'm not a US citizen. I've travelled the world, lived in a bunch of different countries. You know what's unique about the US voting system? An almost total lack of any ID requirements or checks. My wife voted in the US election and I saw stronger checks in AFGHANISTAN where I served.
We even got a postal vote for someone else at our house.

Not having voter ID is absolutely bizarre, I can think of only one other place I've lived where voter ID wasn't required and they have numerous checks and balances as well as a pretty tried and true electoral system that is well trusted.

It's absolutely not a tool to suppress the constitutional rights of the poor and minorities and to suggest so shows total bigotry of low expectations. Poor and minority voters almost universally have some form of ID, typically a drivers license, it's a complete fabrication to suggest otherwise. Also how hard would it be to then offer free voter ID for any eligible person who wants it? That makes your point completely mute.

The reason the Democrat party opposes voter ID is simple. It reduces the number of ineligible voters (typically illegal immigrants) who turn out to vote for them and makes it harder to rig an election.

My wife had to show ID when she bought a gun last year - that's not infringing on her constitutional rights, it's basic common sense. Almost every legal voter in the United States today will have some form of identification, be it a passport, drivers license, military ID etc, even a birth certificate would suffice.

Mixed feelings. We shouldn’t allow fringe ideologies to find bubbles where they can reinforce each others’ false beliefs, but I’m also glad maybe they’ll keep the crazy off Twitter and FB.

So, basically Twitter and FB aswell? If it really was about a social media being accountable for what it's being posted there, the very same tech giants that coordinated to wiped out Parler from existance (Apple, Google, and Amazon) would have done the same with Twitter and FB, as there's a ton of intentional disinformation, hatred and illegal stuff posted there daily (this latter specially looking at you FB). The problem here is the tech giants decided what is allowed and what not (similar of when Google altered the indexing to favour their political views during elections to alter public opinion), not a judge. And even worse, it was due to political reasons (doesn't even matter the ideology) yet many people were clapping with their ears just because it favoured their political positioning. Fools thinking big tech taking care of them, yet not seeing it sets a dangerous precedent that will bite their ass in the future.

Score one for the cesspool of rabid anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-rational thought, pro-racism, pro-sexism, pro-lunatic conspiracy, Qidiot crowd. They now have their platform back where they can all internet fellatio each other with their hive mind of simple thought processes.
I see Qanon being constantly pushed on the alphabet soup networks or by lunatics on Twitter. I'm conservative and follow a number of great conservative podcasts and shows, I couldn't honestly tell you what Qanon was about, the only ones I hear mention it are the left.

I was also on Parler after leaving Twitter because it was so hostile and toxic to anyone who wasn't on the far left and drinking the identity politics koolaid. Parler and now Gab are far more open, hospitable, and reasonable than Twitter this last year. I see people with all sorts of ideas from across the political spectrum - you know, like how Twitter was 5 years ago. Also Twitter allows pornography on its platform, Parler and Gab do not, so I think the 'internet fellatio' in decidedly not on those platforms.

I've yet to see the disgusting and sometimes criminal abuse that's so often on Twitter, it's such a breath of fresh air having a free speech platform of differing opinions where wrong think doesn't get you a digital death sentence. You know what Gab is that Twitter lost? Fun.
