No, you only need to be logged into iCloud and Game Center with the same account.

Thanks for confirming. Those settings are on by default and I have double checked. Games aren't syncing progress. I can see points I earned in one of the games but it is forcing me to play all the levels again to unlock them.

Basic cartoon graphics because high end realistic graphics are beyond the development budgets of these kinds of indie titles.

These launch games are not low budget like the much of the app store. A few of them have the credit 'Produced by Apple'. You missed the more obvious thing. The games are iOS ports and not developed for anything else but mobile GPUs. I found a few games have extra settings on the macOS version that allow higher resolution but not extra detail.

Playing Oceanhorn 2 on the iPad and then moving to the ATV should be way more seamless than it is. Right now I need to tell my iPad to forget the controller from last time I played, re-pair to my iPad, play, turn off the controller, tell my ATV to forget the controller from the last time I connected, re-pair to my ATV, and now I'm finally playing again.

That's not the way it works for me. I have a single MiFi Nimbus paired to my iPhone, iPad, and ATV. Once paired, the Nimbus always shows up in the Bluetooth device list for all of the hardware. All that's needed to switch between devices with the controller is to select the Nimbus in the Bluetooth device list and flip it from 'not connected' to 'connected'. That automatically turns off the connection to the other device. It works the same way as using Bluetooth headphones with multiple devices.

I think the detail part is automatic based on the hardware. I currently run games on an A8 (4th gen ATV), an A9X (1st gen iPad Pro) and a A12 (iPhone XS), and polygon count, textures, lighting, detail in draw distance, and special effects (like heat distortion for large explosions) change in Oceanhorn 2 depending on what SoC you're running. Granted, there are going to be games in Apple Arcade that aren't using 3D engines and won't need to change much in terms of detail.

FYI, I've played Oceanhorn 2 for over 12 hours and am around 40% completion. 30-40 minutes doesn't provide you with much insight into the game. The initial island with the Pirate Cave is really just an intro for the basics of how to use the controls etc.

If a game, any game, doesn't get me engaged in 40 minutes of playtime then it's a bad game (for me).
Also, the controls was horrible on my iPhone XS Max and 11. It's not a game that is well suited for on-screen controls. And if I'm gonna use controllers, then I can just the same play on my PS4 Pro or Nintendo Switch, where I already have huge game libraries with many unplayed games still.

I found the on-screen controls worked well enough up to a point, and then I switched over to using a controller...but that point came much deeper into the game than 40 minutes. What is it about Oceanhorn 2 that you find non-engaging vs a Zelda game?

Have you double-checked that iCloud and Game Center are using the same account?

There's only one account. I'm as computer literate as anyone can be. I wouldn't make that mistake. But for some reason Apple with all their money and geniuses make too many mistakes. Maybe they outsourcing to cheap slaves at an Odesk somewhere?

Ok I need to try this again. Whenever I try to change the device on my DualShock 4 it errors out and I have to re pair.

Games usually don't use the standard system UI elements, Catalyst brings no benefits to them.

Catalyst isn't only about the UI, is it? I do think Catalyst is involved in having Catalina as the requirement for Apple Arcade on the Mac.

Was looking at free trialling Apple Arcade last night. Are there any games on there worth signing up for? Lots of negative feelings above. I'm not a full on gamer, just looking for stuff to relax with and running out of App Store suggestions. Anyhting new on Arcade?
