Apple At-Home Advisor... (Part 2)

Virtual Info Session

Does anyone know if the virtual info session affects your chances of being hired as an at home advisor? If I can't 'attend', will it prevent me from going to the next step?

I've been reading through the thread (all 500 pages...) and I've occasionally seen an ex/current AHA share their experience in the program. I've noticed that hour flexibility seems to be an issue for some, if not most of them, and wanted to see if anyone could help answer some of my questions regarding the program.

While I'm excited at the prospect of working for them, I'm a commuting student and I am basically taking 24 hours (12 credit hours, but double class time due to art classes). Hour flexibility is incredibly important to me, especially since many of my projects require anywhere from 40-80 hours. So, given my particulars, will I find Apple's hours flexible?

Also, I understand that they require a weekend shift from you as well. At my current pace, I attend class and work at the school from 6 a.m. to nearly 10 p.m. As such, when I finish late Friday night, I need the weekend to recover and actually sleep. Will it be possible to ask for weekends off?

Last, I'm currently employed by the university and the job works around my particular schedule. Will I be required to quit this job in order to work for Apple?

Thanks, Dagmaar! Well, I think I did okay- Skype chat issues aside, he had to call me ultimately- my experience working on technical support for Dish Network seemed to help. But, in the roleplaying, I was trying to help by looking through Support pages on the Apple site (which I told him I was doing) but I was also able to figure out at least that it was in airplane mode once he told me about the airplane icon... yeah, dead giveaway.

He said he and the other interviewers will meet up in the next 1-2 days to discuss which candidates they want to move forward with and told me the next step is another interview with a team manager.

So maybe that's a good sign?

I was offered a third interview on the spot. Others heard by e-mail about their third interview. Still others got phone calls. So many people have had so many different experiences so its hard to say with any degree of certainty. If I made that as clear as mud I truly apologize.

Usually they will tell you at the end of your 2nd interview if you will move on to the 3rd and final interview with a Team Manager. That may not always be the case though. Dagmaar and I will be in the same 3/31 class and we are not supporting the iPod so I doubt we will get one with our equipment. Do not quote me as I could very well be wrong.

My class is actually IOS and my supervisor told me I'd be getting an iPod touch with my equipment unless something changed. It's likely that multiple classes are starting on Monday. Either way I'm pretty excited!

It does not and they didn't take attendance. HR and a manager will just be going over all of the paperwork in the folder you were sent.

Unless anyone else has some advice or insight I'd say contact your recruiter with those questions.

Is anyone starting the beginning of May? If so, do you know what it is for? Just wondering why I was told the pay would be 16+ per hour and I havent seen any other posts with that much. I don't have a degree, I am in school but I am interviewing for a PRO position.

My third is this afternoon as well ... I am excited to say the least yet nervous all at the same time ... I had my second on Monday and was told I would hear today (thursday) as to if I made it to a 3rd interview .... Don't over think it. You'll be interviewing with a team manager and it will be the same as the last interview except the tech questions may be a bit more in depth. The focus will still be on customer service.

What answers did you give to how you would connect with the caller?

Empathy for displeasure with Apple, small talk to fill in the gaps. Talk about the weather. Listen to what you hear in the background and talk about it. Talk to your customer. Don't be a robot.

Good answer, dagmaar! You have had a lot of good advice on this forum, I appreciate your help! I have been going over and over all my answers that I gave in my third interview yesterday while I wait to see if I am accepted. For some stupid reason, I felt sooooo nervous during the third interview. I didn't feel nervous during the first two. Maybe, it feels different, because, in the first two interviews, I was told immediately I was being recommended or continuing on to the next round. With the third interview, I was told I would be hearing back in 1-2 weeks. Now I know what it must be like on a game show🙂 I think my greatest advice to anyone going for a third interview is to RELAX! You know your stuff so relax and let it flow naturally. Your mind will freeze up if your nervous...I know from experience!

I honestly think the third interview made us all a bit nervous. Those team managers are very sharp, they know their stuff. I know I thought I didn't do as well on the third as I did on the previous two. I was told one to three weeks but I heard back in three days. Your next step would be a call from your recruiter then an e-mail to complete the HireRight form for your BGC. My BGC took about 3 business days. I'm always happy to share advice with everyone on the forum. I like to see that I was able to help people progress through the process and then get hired.

Are you starting as part time or full time?

If part time, you absolutely have to work an 8 hour shift on the weekend. No way around that.

If you are full time, you have a very high probability of working on at least one weekend day, but it's possible to luck out and get both weekend days off. It's also possible that you would work both.

There really isn't any flexibility. You bid on a schedule, and you get assigned one based on your standing. You may get a crappy schedule that you hate. The only thing you can do is hope that someone that has a schedule you want will switch shifts with you.

Hello all! Been following this thread for a few days. I applied last week and heard back next day. Had 2nd interview yesterday and was told I would get 3rd interview. Got email today about scheduling for 3rd interview but didn't see it until a few minutes ago and now I'm wait listed. This happen to anyone else? How long do you think I'll have to wait?

I went back on to see schedule and there were times available. I've now got my 3rd interview all set up. WOOHOO!

I start on March 31 and should be receiving my equipment this week. I believe there will be an iPod Touch in the box. I'll let you know when I get the package.

I was correct, there is a new red iPod touch, headset, and lightning cable in the box as well as the rest of the equipment I will need to do my job

Any moves have to be approved by management. That being said, I've never seen an issue with a move. I've already moved once in my tenure, and didn't have an issue. But location does affect pay.

Hey guys, I do have a bit of a burning question and I am a bit concerned about this so here goes.

When I got my call for my first interview, I was asked if I had anything that might get in the way of training I said no, but I did let the recruiter know I had a prior commitment for 5 days at the end of July/beginning of August. She seemed a bit discouraging (as would be expected), and said that if I would have been there 6 months as opposed to 3 at that point it might be easier for me to get that time off, but that as it looks she's not sure I could get it.

This prior commitment is already costing me a pretty significant amount of money, and my deadline to have everything paid for it is coming up soon. The money is non-refundable so if I end up not able to go, I'm never seeing that money again. What do you guys think? Would it be something to ask my trainer, or supervisor once I am "on the floor"?
