Think I'll sit it out - really wanted to be able to store some of my own videos that I ripped from DVD's onto the 64gb drive. But apparently not allowed.

Looks cool though, will keep tabs on it.

Is that true? Strange because that is something you could do with the original ATV -- still can. You just sync it up with iTunes via WiFi similar to how you can with an iOS device.

I agree with this, except the fact that I'm using this as a streaming device and the PS4 will be for games, don't think I'll ever use even half the space on this thing

All music, photos and movies will be streamed, nothing local. Max app size is 200MB also. Plus, I expect a 4K model in the next year or so I'll be upgrading then anyway

Um... no. Max app size is 200MB initial download. Up to 200GB as needed via streaming...

Damn gotta wait a week for the free shipping option. Is it worth the wait to save $17...hmmmmm

Apple Store usually says that but with pre-orders ships to arrive on launch day. And actually, paying for expedited shipping is no faster for launch items. That's my experience at least.

So has it shipped, or has it been delivered?

sounds like the shipping label got printed - not the package being delivered. I have that often that companies create that shipping label with Fedex (prompting me to get the tracking number) but the actual shipment does not happen until a day or two later (until it is actually dropped off).

Hey, but I hope for him that is is really already on the truck (but I guess unlikely)

Apple can really suck it if they think people are gonna buy un-subsidised stuff at a significantly higher cost. Strong or weak USD, people don't care if they still have to buy in their currencies.

Economists say the weaker Aussie dollar is good for our economy.

I suppose it would be if we actually made things, what it really means is that it's way cheaper for Apple to buy all our Aluminium, send it to China and then sell it back to us at massively increased prices. It just makes everything more expensive, prohibitively so in this case.

IT'S A BLOODY OUTRAGE!!!

Ordered 32 GB via the Apple App, pretty painless. I'm having it shipped standard shipping but wouldn't be surprised if it gets here sooner.

I thought about that, but whenever I buy the smallest capacity version I come to regret it in the years to come. Not sure why I needed it, but for the sake of the nominal difference in cost I went for it.

Now the waiting game....
Fully understandable.

I went with this option to save money and I easily got away with 32 GB on the iPhone 5s last time. So I anticipate that I won't use all of that on the ATV either... But, we'll see.

Why not just stream like you do with AppleTV 3 with iTunes?

Well, I've already got an Apple TV 3 for that.

But I wanted something that is all in and can utilise at least some local storage so that I can utilise it without a wifi network occasionally.

Basically like the Nvidia Shield Android TV box. That can be bought with 500gb hard drive, and you can rip loads of stuff to it. Or you can buy the 16gb version and just stick a micro-SD card in. It also has all the usual options of Netflix, renting films, games etc etc.

With that, you're not limited to have to stream from MacBook to Apple TV - I do that currently, but it can get quite frustrating sometimes.

Like others have said, I think the original Apple TV could do it.

probably in my country i will get search button instead of SIRI, but if i buy it from UK and get with siri remote it will work?

whats the advantage of getting a 64 vs 32GB? Additional space is for what exactly? Storing own videos? PICS? As to opposed to storing them in the cloud?

I got the 32GB one - and wondering if I should spend the extra.
