So if I buy 0.8 billion apps...I win??!!

I think you even don't need to buy; just download all freebies. Wasn't last (year) winner also based on a free app ? :D. Happy hunting

I wonder if someone from outside US would win what they can do with a US Store Giftcard ? Apple would allow me against their TOS to create an US account ? Or lock you account after you redeemed the code

Calculation

According to my calculation, at the current download rate, we should hit 50,000,000,000 in just over 12 days... granted a very rough calculation, but that's when I'm checking it again.

When I read App Store I assumed they meant all of the App Stores, cumulatively, but this seems to just apply to the iOS App Store. But they have the same name on both platforms.

I don't think the number of apps impressive. So many are junk. So many should just be web apps. And because there's no trial feature, a lot of people, like myself, have downloaded a lot of free apps they'll never use again.

It's no different than if I went to a web page that I upon entering it realized I was not interested in and never went to again. Except that downloading apps is more tedious than using web pages.

I would love to see Apple cull the App Store and make it cleaner, and require proof that an app needs to be an app-app rather than a web app.

It's in white font in the footnotes on apple's website.

Just press command all and you'll see it.

I can't find the all button on my Apple keyboard!

...I knew I should have splurged and spent more on the wireless one.

We know that apple and the App Store are the highest quality because of the Billions and Billions Served.

Just like McDonalds must have the highest quality restaurant food because of the Billions and Billions served.

I wonder if there will be a worldwide internet crash from all the people downloading apps at the second the number hits around 49,999,900,000?

It says "amount equal to USD 10,000 or 500". I'd assume it will be for _your_ store and the currency converted.

If only they could match their iOS enthusiasm with their pro product line. One can dream.

If we could match our iOS enthusiasm with their Pro line, Apple would copy.
Thing is, I bought my Macbook Pro in 2011 and have no desire at all to replace it.
I bought my 4S late 2011 and can't wait to get rid of it. I bought my iPad 2 in mid 2011 and have already gotten rid of it.

Doesn't 1/3 of the app selling price go to Apple? It's a win-win for them.
