There is only ONE way to sell 41 million iPhones to meet financial expectation this year.

iPhone SE X at $449

It Will need every bell and whistle we have collectively requested. Don’t even think 32 or 64 Gig. Every bell and whistle packed nice and tight.

Apple only we, the true and the faithful, can save you now.
Forbes motto, if one doom and gloom article doesn't do the trick, let's write another.

I see this erroneous thinking time and time again.

A brand new (non-refurb, unopened, unlocked) iPhone SE has never been sold anywhere for under $200. It has never happened. The $99-150 iPhone SE's that you've seen online are either pre-paid phones (contract-based) or refurbished. If you buy any of the super cheap brand new iPhone SE's from the pre-paid retailers, you will not be able to use it with other carriers, until the contract is honored. Most of the time, this means having made several months payment on the plan that you agreed to before the phone can be unlocked. In some cases, it will never be unlocked.

Let me repeat: a brand new unlocked factory-sealed iPhone SE has never been offered for sale under $200 anywhere online in the 3 year history of the device.

I'm not sure why people always think that this was and is a $100-200 phone. It's not. Never was. If you want it unlocked, brand new, and factory-sealed, you always had to pay $200+ for it.

I didn’t say it was unlocked. Also, all you need is 6 months of service with the prepaid carrier before they will unlock it. At their cheapest, that’s $25 a month. That’s $139 + $150 pretax, if you NEED it to be unlocked. That’s still under $300 and has been for years. I’m typing this on an SE I picked up two weeks ago. For $139.

where are folks getting accessories for the SE if didn't have already? had my eye on an Apple leather case but nowhere to be found sadly

This was such an awesome little phone and at that price is almost disposable for employees in high risk jobs/traveling.
Maybe it is cause i am older. But I don’t miss the days of squinting at a phone just to do anything. I don’t think i could ever go back to a tiny screen ever again.

Apple, make an SE2 with an edge to edge OLED display and upgraded internals and you’ll have a buyer. Otherwise I’m keeping my SE. Can’t stand massive phones.

If you can afford to, please buy this phone. Get those numbers up and lets see if there is demand for the smaller phone. I need an SE2!

For those of you who ordered, when will it arrive? Mine was supposed to be the 25th but it got moved up to the 23rd (tomorrow). Wondering which version of iOS these will have.

Stupid, lost all credibility when he started quoting phone prices at carrier subsidized levels. IPhone 4 was never $199, and the 6 was never ever only $299. You couldn’t actually buy an iPhone not locked to a carrier in the USA until the last couple of years! In Europe, Canada, and all other markets, the iPhone 4 and 6 started at around $599 USD depending on market, and peaked for the highest capacity models around $750. All his analytics fall apart - raising prices by 500%! Ha! The 75-80% hike is bad enough, but that is just stupid sensationalism.

For a professional fund manager that’s pretty lazy (I’d never want that guy managing mine!)

The only problem with that is the size of the XR bezels. Hold one next to an XS and see what I mean.
Fair comment, but having a 19.5x9, 4.7” screen @ the same 326ppi with the same bezels as the XR would result in a chassis almost exactly the same size as the current SE. They might need to find smaller bezels though to fit in the FaceID in the notch and still have enough room to display the corner status icons.

Ebay? Makes no sense. They have hundreds for sale. I would lose money. I think I’ll just cancel and wait for a deal on iPhone 8. 8 is the most up to date version of the 6S I have (or maybe we’ll see rumors pop up again for SE2 and then I’ll just wait)

There are no new, sealed, 128gb SEs, capable of AppleCare+ on eBay, much less for anything like the price you paid.

Of course you could always sell it here. There are many who would buy it from you for more than you paid, myself included.

Or you could cancel your order, and we can all hit refresh on the SE Apple Clearance site for it to be offered for sale again ...

iPhone 6S could be specked to $1050 or so with taxes, but the entry was still not $200.

I am not saying that I agree with the numbers on the link, but......

How much tax are you referring to?

I purchased a maxed out iPhone 6s, with AC+, and taxes for a little over $1000.....

Did you mean the 6s Plus?

And again, I don't agree with the numbers, but it is very hard to compare the older subsidized phone plans to the new ones. I know a bunch of people that have newer plans, but pay much more than they used when adding their cost of paying for the phone via their mobile carrier.

Phones are obviously more expensive than they once were just a few years ago.

iPhone 6S could be specked to
I personally would go with the entry price of the phones to compare, but if you want to go for the maxed out flagship model, I just priced it on the Apple Store, and the maxed out XS Max with AC+ and taxes is $1,834.94 where I live. That is a $800 increase to what I paid for the 6s Plus. Yes, there are new/better things with the newer phone, but that is expected with technology.

Regardless of the flawed numbers in that linked article, there is no denying that iPhones cost much more than they did a few years ago.

Okay so...nobody is really asking you to here. Nobody's forcing you into a small phone.

BUT it would be awesome if Apple offered that to those of us that prefer it.

They got some crazy ppl on this forum. You tell them you don’t prefer an Apple product. And they react as if you kicked Tim Cook in the nuts or something. lol

I understand, and agree, although there may have been a more polite way of stating this.....

2015 iPhone 6s grey 128 GB plus AC from Apple store in person, 7% tax - about $1050 - don't have the bill in front of me. It was a reward/gift for job well done to the kid and it is still going strong - replaced the battery at the "Idiot" (long story) bar in December. It has travelled the globe.

XS or XS Max have better cameras - plural. Stop. Everything, including the cameras, is bonus/trimming; the screen is great, but, will it last?

Rest of the family stuck with the 5S and then SE - size and headphone jack. Plus, the phones were working, we saw no reason to replace them with the latest and most expensive.

Same with the MBP - 2015, one bough piping hot, the second after almost two years. Both going fine - the first one needed screen replacement for splotches under AC.

I am afraid of and for this company - as a customer and a shareholder respectively!

AC is counterintuitive for such premium products, too expensive to buy for the consumer, too expensive for the company to honor, because of the poor quality, as we later learn.

Okay, this make more sense. You originally said the 6S without the "Plus" which is why I asked if you meant the "Plus" model.

This was a little more than what mine cost having slightly less sales tax.

. That is why it is important to get AC now. The quality at Apple has gone down hill.

I only recently started getting Apple Care, and I have had to use it many times, which is really sad for a company with the reputation that Apple once had.

2015 iPhone 6s grey 128 GB plus AC from Apple store in person, 7% tax - about $1050

So compare that number to the iPhone XS Max @ $1,834.94, or a little more with your 7% sales tax.

That article got the numbers wrong for the comparison, but there is still a huge increase in prices in iPhones from only just a few years ago.

Wow what the hell. I listed it for $599. It sold in minutes, literally. What a score.

With the money I’ll just go trade in my 6S and buy an iPhone 8 :)

Funny my wife told me I was wasting my time listing it on eBay. Easiest money ever made.

Damn, I was going to offer $300 - knowing you'd reject it:(. But, what you got is excellent - kudos:cool:!

I have to retract my earlier post - but the typical eBay iPhone is not factory sealed and AC eligible:eek:. So, their price was high 100's to low 200's.

My perfect replacement for the SE that I will keep until it dies if you are reading this Apple would be SE sized and have flat sides with OLED for as close to edge to edge as possible. Tshrow in an under screen fingerprint reader and a decent camera and I will camp out overnight. Maybe not camp out but I would definitely buy one.

Surely Apple pays someone to keep an eye on these comment pages. C'mon, do your job.

Yes, I‘m advocating for this since two years. An XR wrapped in the bezels of an se would be amazing. Screen size larger than iPhone 8, but pocketable like the SE.

I still do not understand why no producer in the market sees the potential for this product. In my friends circle there are at least 10 people who would buy immediately

Wasn't there something with the release of iOS12 and the phones that were supported, to say that iOS12 was only for 6S and up?
I am not sure what you mean...

If anything, the SE would be on the same level as the IPhone 6s, since they launched together. The SE came out a few months after the 6s.

Besides, iOS 12 works for even older devices like the 6 and 5s.
