15% discount for a second hand computer doesn’t seem much.
I do not qualify this as a real announcement bruh not even in : https://www.apple.com/newsroom/No, small announcement was the Apple TV+ App for Android Smartphones, though I think adding the M4/M4 Pro Macs to the refurbished store counts as more significant one.
Not so in Canada. In Europe it’s only for teachers and college students, and you have to submit proof.
Not second hand, brand new (almost) since some parts are completely new !15% discount for a second hand computer doesn’t seem much.
I agree, and by the way I went to US and it’s the same !Not so in Canada.
I have bought two M series Mac Book Pros for two daughters in university and I was never asked to provide proof.
Awhile back they tried to use a organization associated with education in the states where it required proof then they quickly abandoned that, too much hassle for students. Not so in Canada.

Apple's reasoning: The M2 Mac mini has a bigger aluminum body/enclosure vs the M4 Mac mini. You're paying up for that extra aluminum 😂They need to update their pricing algorithm on the refurb store. It doesn't take into account the M4 baseline 16 GB spec. It's absurd to have the M2 16/256 Gigabit refurb priced higher than the M4 16/256 Gigabit refurb.
For in store purchases in Canada (and also in the US I believe), they sometimes may ask for proof. However, they never ask for online edu purchases, even if you pick up in store. Not so in Canada.

It wasn't quickly abandoned. Proof was required in the US and Canada for a very, very long time. However, if you weren't buying Macs in the early days you may not have known this.Awhile back they tried to use a organization associated with education in the states where it required proof then they quickly abandoned that, too much hassle for students.

The premium price for USB A ports
My guess is that we will find better deals once the M4 Mini become older, right?
Perhaps not Canada, but they backed off it here in 2022, and yes it was about a week. For in store purchases in Canada (and also in the US I believe), they sometimes may ask for proof. However, they never ask for online edu purchases, even if you pick up in store.
However, the prior point was that it's not the same outside of Canada and the US.

And they still require proof in many other countries to this day.
I'll bet that you, and the person who gave you a thumbs up, knew full well that your comparison was disingenuous when you knowingly omitted the fact that you were comparing prices with an educational price that isn't generally available. Integrity should matter, yet it rarely does anymore. The $509 price of refurb M4 Mac mini is silly. A brand new one direct from Apple is $499.

Well, here it’s different. You need a student ID or a verified school account. Not so in Canada.
I have bought two M series Mac Book Pros for two daughters in university and I was never asked to provide proof.
Oh, that's what you mean. What I meant is long before that proof was required for edu purchases. For example, when you bought in the early 2000s, Apple required proof for edu purchases or to buy at a campus computer shop which had the student pricing built-in.Perhaps not Canada, but they backed off it here in 2022, and yes it was about a week.
Just to clarify for the others here: The 649€ M2 on the German store is a 16/256 GB refurb, while the 699€ M4 16/256 is brand new.

Yeah, we were talking only about the M2 non-Pro Mac mini. I didn't look into any of the laptops. Those are all base versions i think. M2 Pro, M3 Pro, and M4 Pro with 512GB storage and 16, 18, 24GB RAM:
