Yeah, but you know it will be... Apple can't resist. Faster processors, better battery life.

Not necessarily. How often is Apple TV updated? Mac Pro? iPods? There are a number of products with longer than one year update cycles. We'll just have to wait and see.

Even if there is a version 2 next year, you can bet it will not come up in April - it will be moved like with everything else to the 2016 holiday shopping season - which means IOS 9, 10 and even 11 will likely support this version of the watch.

Edit.
9to5mac just reported that IOS 9 will be supported even on the iphone 4s - so this watch will be supported for a long time.

To be able to spend the price of a car on a watch that will be obsolete in 5 years....that's another world.

Spending 16k on a freaking Apple Watch is so dumb. Shows the stupidity and excess of our time.

What a waste for something that will be outdated in a year.

What a waste for something that will be outdated in a year.

Why does that even matter?
You can spend a lot more on a private jet to NY, a suite at a great hotel and a dinner...and all of that will be "outdated" by the next morning.

The people who can afford something like this don't mind replacing it in a year. It's only a waste if you're not the target market. Though, I would say I'd rather people with that much money give it to charity and buy the SS or Sport model instead.

This is what people fail to understand. Some of the people who can afford this gold watch lose more in Vegas.

Well compared to some people in third world countries that don't have clean water or a lightbulb to read by at night, I'd say anything beyond basic food and shelter is excessive—much less the $349 sport edition accessory to the computer we carry around in our pockets.

Here's the deal: Everyone needs to stop telling other people how they should spend their money. Many well-off people do a lot of charitable work. Those who don't wouldn't have given to charity and would have wasted it on something else anyway. After all, expensive watches far more costly than the Apple Watch have existed for a long time. At least with Apple getting the money they can fund R&D for advanced batteries, electric cars and all the other cool initiatives they're rumored to be working on. They're energy efficient and doing more than most other companies in that regard. I'd rather they have the money to push technology forward than some stodgy old luxury company founded 150 years ago.

and you know that also means that you aren't required to upgrade at that point, right?

Or do people also feel they have to upgrade every time a new car, computer, TV, DVD player, toaster oven, weed wacker, light bulb, comes out?

I would say I'd rather people with that much money give it to charity and buy the SS or Sport model instead.

But it would be a lot better if people give more of their money to charity instead of upgrading to an iPhone 6 or even a 5s. That would have a much bigger impact on charity than the sales for the Watch Edition.

I do hope that if there are any Edition owners here, they aren't completely put off by the negative reaction on this forum and do decide to share impressions etc.

Congratulations!, you're overpriced, already out of date tech is now being prepped for shipping!

See you next year with the Apple Watch 2 - The suckering.

People actually bought this?

I just thought it was a joke and they were only given away to celebrities.

I know Apple pricing is often excessively overpriced but the Edition prices were redicilius, even if they were 18c gold.

I think it is not coincidence that these are shipping after the Watch OS got an update. Best to have the ownership experience of something this expensive go off without a hitch.

I don't understand the reason to do a "metallurgical" analysis in the first place. Does iFixit really believe they are going to discover Apple lied about the gold in the watch? Is iFixit really the world's authority in claims testing? :roll eyes: Yeah, tell us how hard something is to take apart and change parts on and how to do it. Claims testing? whatever.

Will a $16k iWatch have enough novelty to appreciate at a rate comparable to an original Apple Computer?

Good luck... a fool and his money and all that.
