He was dressed in Business Casual Attire and said it was his only delivery today. He was not in a UPS truck.

That sounds weird. I don't think I would open my door for that. I would prefer a more official delivery uniform/truck. Good thing they let you know ahead of time to expect a delivery.

No dumber than what a homeless person would think about you or I spending $750 for a SS Apple Watch. Its all relative. If I made $50M a year, spending $16K for a watch is actually a WHOLE LOT less than me spending $750 with my income....

It would be a smaller percentage of your income, but you would still be spending 17k on something it cost apple less than a thousand to make. You're still being ripped off even worse than with the normal Apple Watch.

i got my edition today!! It was hand delivered by a ups courier. See the pics for proof.

They set up an appointment for delivery within a 30 minute window so I was expecting him.

Isn't that true for every single luxury item ever made? People are paying for exclusivity, not simply for the cost of materials. Rarity is kind of the definition of luxury and either price, uniqueness or scarcity of materials/special skills to create (which in turn leads to high price in a different way) gets rarity. I honestly don't care how people spend their money because spending money puts money back into the economy vs squirreling it away in an offshore account but I do care about the ability of people to get paid decently for doing useful work.

Though, I would say I'd rather people with that much money give it to charity and buy the SS or Sport model instead.

Some of the people with that much money already give far more than that amount to charity already. And very possibly a higher percentage than you gave to charity last year. So why don't you start with yourself?

Indeed they have started shipping.

Obviously, it's not for me.

Luxury items usually are examples of excellent craftsmanship. The edition is just a normal apple watch with gold. Plus unlike other 16k dollar watches it'll be obsolete in a year. A Rolex would last a life time or more.

Also, you should care about people wasting money. That money could have been spent making the world a better place instead of lining the pockets of Cook et al.

What a waste for something that will be outdated in a year.

It's not a waste if it brings that person joy. A lot of people in 3rd world countries will say the exact same thing about a lot of the unnecessary things ordinary folks in developed nations buy and enjoy.

It's all relative and about perspective. Trust me, if you made millions every month, you wouldn't think twice about buying the edition, just as rich folks can spend $2,000 for a set of 4 Hermes dinner plates without batting an eye.

Dude, seriously! There is a difference between buying an iphone and spending 17k on a 700 watch with 600 dollars of gold in it. Why can't people understand this. I suppose I could sell a gold covered turd and someone would say 'it's all relative.' Man, the world is over! F***CK!

So, Gold Edition watch pre-orders get waited on by Apple, while the rest of us have to suffer ?

That's not fair :apple:

Half of the time most Apple delivers are not convenient for me neither, but i don't get an email asking me for a time-frame..

I guess being higher price tag works better...... I wonder how its arrives...

and be that stupid!

Your right ,, your car costs way more... :D

AND IT'S A CAR... What??? F***CKKK!!!

I wonder if these will be shipping in armored boxes.

It does seem strange that these $10,000+ devices will be floating around in run-of-mill apple boxes.

Spending 16k on a freaking Apple Watch is so dumb. Shows the stupidity and excess of our time.

I wouldnt feel safe wearing one of these in public. Worried about getting stabbed for a watch. You would need a couple of body guards with you at all times, unless you want to take the risk. But of course high profile celebrities should be fine.

Anyone else think the refresh cycle for these watches might be longer? e.g. 3-5 years.
