I can't believe 10A432 is the GM build. Usually we get at least get one or two GM candidates.

Needless to say, I think I'll wait until 10.6.1 comes out to install it on my MacBook. 10A431 has been a PITA for me. I just now reverted back to Leopard.

28th would be sweet as I'm on leave from work that week and I should get it on the day as i've preordered via the up-to-date program... Gives me all weekend to try it out :) I think if they don't announce this Friday it won't happen... Just my opinion. Fingers crossed! ;)

Why? What's wrong with it?

How long was it between 10.5 and 10.5.1?

Usually with Apple, September means "September 31". I'd be shocked if it actually shipped in August! Can't wait to try it out. It's only $30 too!

I'd be shocked if they didnt, with the final version already out on the internet they cant twiddle their thumbs as tens of thousands of people download it since they dont want to wait for an unknown release date.

Someone posted a list with things wrong with 10A432. One thing that stood out is not preferences for QuickTime X. Oh & 64-Bit extensions missing completely. It just seems incomplete. Like 2 builds away from a real GM :( I mean, it's usable, it just seems incomplete. Small things missing/ not 100% functional that Apple really wouldn't let slip by. Still feels like a RC build, not the GM build. Looks like I'm gonna wait until 10.6.1 to install Snow Leopard on my main machine :(

I think the whole point of QT X is to strip everything down and go back to a simple player. So no prefs is intentional, not missing.

It is. It's just the Snow Leopard installer-icon which appeared in build 10A432 which apparently is the GM after all.

All of the arguments against 10a432 not being the GM were entirely unavailing, based on misconceptions of what a 64-bit kernel means. There hasn't been another build since, and Apple is apparently training their people on the 10a432 build.

On balance, I therefore tend to believe that it is in fact the GM, but this is all just as circumstantial as the argument against it always was.

Personally, I have had very good results stability wise with SL since much earlier builds.

Eh, it's the only Apple app without preferences so, honestly, I kinda doubt it. Even so, there are a lot of things missing/ incomplete (that should be there/ functional in a GM) in 10A432. I'm still kinda shocked that it's the GM

people who buy it from the Apple retail stores get their copies first, applestore.com people get theirs second, amazon and the rest are third

Oh... That doesn't sound too promising! :( I'd rather they hold onto it for another month than release something incomplete! If it is released next week perhaps I'll just put it on my laptop first to check it out...

I don't remember that appearing on the known issues list. It appears to be by design. Same thing with the much maligned 32-bit kernel issue.

Well as Amazon.co.uk have finally put the snow leopard page up in the past few days, it's coming within the next 2 weeks.

And you know this how? It all depends on the courier.

If you order it via apple.com, you could have it before people at the AppleStores' as it depends on how close you are to the depot. When I ordered my mac, I recieved it at 8AM! Which is usually before the AppleStores open. And if you order from Amazon, you still get it on the release date, and once again, it depends how close you are to the depot to when you will get it delivered.

Please don't post what you don't know...

Now in only they had an Apple store within 150 miles then I'd stroll right in and pick it up. I chose to help out MacRumors by pre-ordering through the link with Amazon. I have Amazon Prime with free 2 day shipping. Here's to hoping I get it by Saturday assuming it is released by Fri 28th. All of the movie pre-orders I've had with Amazon arrive the day of release. I've never ordered an OS with a specific release date however.

I'd be shocked if 10A432 is the GM

that it fails to save preferences is not a minor annoyance. For example, I've had to reset my iTunes library and Mail account.

However, I have not had any other problems that I could attribute to SL and my apps have run without a glitch for several builds now.
