I really hope SL is out the 28th as Im back to college in early september and dont wont have the time to play around with all the new features etc!

As an aside I wonder will it qualify for free shipping from the online apple store (ireland) as the usual minimum is €30.

Here's hoping!

My friends, buddies cousin is married to the uncle of the neice of a guy thats father-in-law's sister of the janitor that works across the street at the Jack in the box next to his friends house who has a room mate that knows someone at Apple who knows Steve Jobs and the actual release date of 10.6 and it will not be released until September 13th. Sorry to bare the bad news.

The actual price usually for free shipping is €121.

I presume thy will give free shipping on it, as they give free shipping on all new iPods, even the shuffle which is WAY under that minimum. They may just send it via the postal service instead.

Thought of this.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

That's good news. I'm running it for a week on an early 2008 MBP. It's a slick, fast, and stable platform. No bugs, crashes, or incompatibilities so far (just Backup Bouncer due to a very old lib). I like the small UI refinements and the new Finder is much snappier. Boot time (until the Desktop appears) is only slightly faster, but the difference to Leopard is, when it appears it is instantly usable and not as in Leopard already showing but still blocked by background initialization for quite a while.

Safari's new process model is also great. I sometimes have very many tabs open with a lot of Flash ads. This can ramp up CPU utilization to almost 2x100%. Then you just kill the Flash plugin's process, what makes all Flash ads disappear without affecting your browsing session at all and CPU usage gets back to 1-2%.

PLEASE tell me that, unlike in Leopard, Mail actually hides itself on launch with Snow Leopard.

SL in Training Document

If that truly is the SL install disk portrayed on the training document, the one with the actual Snow Leopard - i can't believe that more people aren't complaining about it. The other day when the images leaked were rumored to be the SL packaging - people were all over it. And now... nothing.

Not that any of us can do anything about it anyway, I am just surprised by how little emotion it is getting now. Interesting.

but why would Apple launch "Apple's best os yet" on a friday?

Apple has often released their OS updates on Fridays.

Leopard: 26 October 2007 (Friday)
Tiger: 29 April 2005 (Friday)
Panther: 24 October 2003 (Friday)
Jaguar: 24 August 2002 (Saturday?)

My work term ends August 28th!!!!

I just hope to have it before the fall semester starts so I don't have to get used to a new OS while I'm very busy.

They may just send it via the postal service instead.

I really hope they don't as that could take forever, that said i live like 3 miles from an apple factory and 6 from the main an post depot so i might get it relatively soon after it becomes available. How long did 10.5 take to ship?

Why? What's wrong with it?

I've just had overall problems with it on my MacBook (Early 2007). It becomes unresponsive at times (especially Safari and QuickTime) and graphics are choppy (particularly in Expose and Time Machine) like there are GMA 950 issues. I haven't noticed any sort of speedup compared to Leopard either.

Additionally, AirPort regularly disconnects and then refuses to connect to my Linksys router. Instead it gives a security error.

But, I'm running 10A431 not 10A432. These issues could have been fixed. However, 10A431 didn't seem anywhere near finished to me.

Not exchange rate - greed.

30 USD will probably mean 30 GBP here, in the UK. That's roughly 1.6 times its US price. Great!

You thought that Apple is overpriced... Apple UK is greedy!

One week isn't much time to generate hype, but then again they don't want to cut into their music event hype. I suppose I could see it happening the 28th, but only if they announce it tomorrow.

I agree - hopefully tomorrow will be the big announcement we've all been waiting for!

Apple UK are greedy.

Put it this way.

Up-to-date Program... £7.95 for UK users. $9.95 for US users.

So presume $29USD - £25GBP. (works out to £23.71 if you compare the 7.95-9.95 price) However we MAY get lucky, and may get it for £19.95?

plus you have the whole VAT thing, included in our prices, not in US

It could come out any time between tomorrow and the 9th. All the speculation is a guess.

They don't need to train people very much to learn SL. It could be held until the media event. I've waited months and months and can wait another 2 weeks. SL won't solve all the world's problems.

Bring on 10.7 with an updated GUI that is actually consistent and better looking packaging! :D

VAT is 15% (Normally 17.5% but the silly Scottish bloke in Parliament took it down to 15% for all of 2009 which ruined the value of the pound), Whereas your tax varies from state-to-state and can be anywhere from 7%-12% if my memory serves me rightly.

If a build so lacking that people on a forum can find bugs in truly is GM then I am utterly disgusted. Disgusted that the state of software releases, and specialy OS relases have degenerated so much that farting one out with a, hey we'll patch it later, mentality is in the realm of the acceptable.

It truly is pathetic, I bought Leopard at launch and it had its fair of serious issues even after the few first patches.
